Position Summary:
We are currently looking for an experienced Packaging Developer to join the Device R&D team as a Senior Scientist in the Professional Products Division (PPD). In this role, you will use your packaging development expertise and internal/external networks to drive growth, develop, and commercialize winning products within the PPD space (e.g. Education, Athletic, and commercial facilities).

Operating within the new Agile world, there might also be opportunities to wear multiple development hats as project work ebbs and flows or help support other PPD initiatives to drive growth for the department.

Key Responsibilities:
Utilize technical skills to successfully translate consumer needs to robust technical approaches and apply known technology from inside and outside sources to deliver superior products.

Communicate effectively within multi-functional team and build strong partnerships with functions such as Marketing, Product, GS, Process, and PM.

Utilize creative problem solving skills and bias for action to deliver innovative packaging solutions as part of a cross functional team.

Manage projects which include all aspects of packaging - from primary package through shipping cases, unit load and point-of-purchase displays. Beginning as early as conception and running through implementation to full national production.

Use experimentation to establish performance and specifications for package designs

Collaborate with peers in a team that values open learning, technical curiosity, and supports development, sharing, and testing of new ideas.

Help develop best practices and drive continuous improvement in innovation and technology throughout Research and Development

Mentor younger scientist who may be newer to packaging development

Required Qualifications:
BS Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field

5-10 years of previous experience in packaging development or related packaging industry. Preference for experience in consumer products, or B2B/I&I

High energy, positive drive and commitment in setting and meeting aggressive goals.

Ability to work independently, contributing to bringing new products to life, and implement multiple projects in a timely manner.

Strong problem solving skills to research and make recommendations demonstrating the superiority and relevance of our products. Must be resourceful in order to provide real time solutions.

Strong, deep technical skills to identify, adapt, and prototype solutions with speed and excellence. Must be technically curious and willing to learn quickly.

Demonstration of leadership, communication and teamwork skills.

A mindset to maintain a safe work environment.

Ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities.

Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of blow molding, injection molding, cartons, and corrugate

IOPP certification

Broad knowledge of the packaging industry for CPG companies, suppliers, and end users.

Experience driving technical and end-user innovation projects, applying innovation behaviors to real-world end-user problems demonstrating: risk-taking, influencing, idea integration, end-user empathy, & results seeking.
