About the Opportunity:
DMI is currently seeking to hire a Business Analyst/Tech Writer to support a Federal Government customers in the DC metro area. This analyst will provide Support for an enterprise web-based system.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Understand the requirements and business rules for enterprise scale applications
needs and gather and prioritize business requirements for IT projects
Analyze and Evaluate customer business needs and the entire details they require for creating or implementing the business/technical process
Maintain program timeline and support through life cycle end
Assess the requirements, design with the business owners on a regular basis to understand their latest needs and keep the development backlog updated
Determine functional requirements and non-functional requirements for product development
Ensure the product delivered satisfies the user requirements by conducting and performing UATs
Build business requirements specification, as well as other phases of documentation
Coordinate activities for preventing or correcting defects, making changes, enhancements and maintenance of the system to enhance the value of the system
Serve as a liaison between the technical team and business stakeholders to achieve seamless communication
Able to lead a Scrum meetings, Status calls in an Agile based project.
Utilize Agile principles and work with developers to write/elicit Epics and decomposing them into User Stories sized appropriately and creating acceptance test criteria for each user story.
Advanced technical writing skills including the ability to translate complex technical IT concepts into digestible information for audiences with varying levels of understanding
Advanced proofreading and editing skills and well versed with writing style guides
Education and Years of Experience:
BA/BS Degree in a technology related field
6+ years of work experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in a software development or IT consulting environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to communicate effectively and confidently with customers, team members and management
Must be flexible and willing to undertake a wide variety of challenging tasks
Must be able to elicit detailed requirements from stakeholders across organizational boundaries
Proven experience at driving consensus across multiple stakeholders
Proven analytical skills
Process driven analysis skills and a background in various requirements elicitation methods
Expertise in Microsoft Excel (required for doing data analysis)
Expertise in Visio or similar tool (required for doing data flow/business flow diagrams)
Ability to articulate and create PowerPoint decks based on system requirements required for effective communication with external stakeholders
Ability to perform manual testing is a must
Minimum of 3 years of stay in the US is required
Ability to understand current system gaps and propose future system changes is a great plus
Certified Scrum Master
