Full Job Description
To perform tasks involving physical labor such as smoothing out, leveling, and finishing freshly poured concrete at a variety of Company construction sites.surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints.
Position responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor
Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards
Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials
Enforce all OSHA rules, MAC Safety Standards, and local policies/procedures to provide a safe working environment. Must recognize unsafe conditions and behaviors and make corrections to prevent injuries and property loss
Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Supervisor, or General Manager.
Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth, and align them.
Position construction forms or molds.
Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float
Spread concrete or other aggregate mixtures
Finish concrete surfaces
Notify Supervisor or appropriate Manager of any personnel issues as needed to ensure harmony amongst workers
Smooth out concrete in segments to ensure the concrete poured is level
Fill roadways, driveways, sidewalks, bridges, homes, and parking lots
Arrange the concrete forms, prepare the base, spread concrete, cut pavers
Prepare surface with hammer and chose
Rub cement in with sponge-rubber float or burlap
Level it using special blades, making sure all lumps and bubbles are smoothed over
Use wood or plastic forms to shape the concrete and hold it until it is set
Smooth high spots and fill depressions
Make concrete beams, columns, and panels
Wash away excess concrete and finish corners by hand
Apply latex and epoxy to floors
Use machines that vibrate concrete to fill air pockets
Use groovers and hand trowels to spread concrete
Halt concrete pouring if weather looks bad
Install masonry according to specifications
Pour sand in as filler
Use chemical additives to speed up drying process if necessary

Work environment: May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on sites as well as wet and/or humid conditions, construction debris, dust, construction material fumes and odors, moving mechanical parts, high and underground precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, all weather condition to include extreme cold and extreme heat; must work outside in varying weather/driving conditions combined with regular work time indoors, must wear steel-toed boots and high-visibility vest/shirt at all times on site/around warehouse/yard.
Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies
Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
Ability to lift heavy objects and load/unload trucks
Must be able to comply with safety, quality and technical protocols
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work with others of diverse backgrounds and levels of authority
OSHA 10 certification preferred, at a minimum
Comfortable working in a team environment
Ability to drive/operate heavy construction equipment is a plus
Physical demands: While performing the duties of job, employee is required to stand; walk; sit; drive; use hands to finger(s), handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; type/use computer and phone; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and/or stand on, carry, and/or move ladders, scaffolding, and construction equipment/objects. Employee must be able to consistently and correctly lift and/or move up to 85 pounds, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
