The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for configuring, monitoring and maintaining IP network related resources across Summit Midstream’ s nationwide network footprint. This position requires a high level of analytical skills and attention to detail to help ensure Summit Midstream’ s network operational resiliency. The Communications department relies heavily upon our reporting capabilities to help isolate and resolve network related issues. This position will be key in ensuring reporting accuracy through diligent documentation and M/A/C (Move, Add, Change) control management
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
Analyze, design, and install network systems ranging from LAN/WAN switch/firewall to 900Mhz Radios, VSAT, cellular modems, VOIP, IP cameras and IP security solutions.
Create, deploy and maintain Cisco ASA firewalls, Ciscot Catalyst Switches and Cisco Routers
Deploy and maintain Solarwinds for network monitoring
Create new and maintain existing network documentation utilizing Visio
Document work progress via ticketing system.
Supports field communications technicians in multiple geographical areas.
Assist in deploying/managing NMS, TACACS+, IPAM, etc.
Ensure communications installations are on schedule with construction.
Troubleshoot and resolve network related incidents.
Assist with managing a vast array of IP providers.
Assist in managing a wide variety of network hardware. Cisco, HP, Dell, etc.
Participate in after-hours projects related to network maintenance.
Participate in a weekly after-hours on-call rotation supporting 24 hour operations.
Education and Experience
Associate's degree and/or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
CCNP or higher certification preferred with experience.
5+ years’ experience in deploying networking technologies.
Strong layer 3 and layer 2 skills
Familiarity with Cisco Firepower, AMP and ISE
Experience managing VOIP systems.
Experience working with high availability networks.
Experience with Solarwinds ORION (or other NMS).
Familiarity with BGP, OSPF, EIGRP dynamic routing solutions.
Packet capture, wireshark - Pcap experience.
Other network and/or Microsoft certifications are a plus.
Previous experience with Oil & Gas or SCADA technologies is a plus.
Ability to install cellular and vsat field communication equipment.
Experience with Outdoor Wireless Systems 2.4ghz, 5ghz, and 900mhz is a plus.
Exercise excellent face-to-face, phone, and email communication skills, rapport and etiquette.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
Must be willing to work in harsh outdoor conditions when required
Must be willing and able to travel, at management discretion, to locations involving overnight stays frequently
