Under direction of the Iowa Heart Center clinical administration assisting with EP Cath lab procedures, clinical research and outcomes management, staff development, marketing, and patient/community education.
Assists electrophysiologists during EP procedures at Mercy Medical Center and Mercy West Lakes EP lab.
Assists in Training Cath lab EP support and clinical staff in technical skills and EP concepts and provides in-service education where needed.
Participates in evaluation and selection of EP Cath lab equipment supplies.
Assists in process improvement for procedural scheduling and EP lab work flow to ensure efficiency, quality, and patient satisfaction.
Assists in development of hospital and practice policies and procedures related to EP.
Participates in the development of patient education materials.
Acts as liaison between medical industry representatives, physicians, staff, and patients.
Participates in monitoring and auditing of procedural documentation to assure regulatory compliance and reimbursement.
Works with electrophysiologists in identification of research protocols.
Compiles and analyzes reports, defined procedural outcomes data for clinical process improvement, public reporting, third part data reporting, and research publications.
Develops and maintains an EP procedural and clinical outcomes registry.
Works cooperatively with the IHC research department for all EP procedure related research projects.
Performs data collection, analysis, and assists in publication of research findings.
Complies with research regulatory requirements, i.e. informed consents, IRB approval, etc.
In conjunction with IHC Research Department, assists in preparation of information for submission to IRB for approval and correspondence between IRB and drug companies.
Participates in professional development activities to include local and national presentations.
Maintains professional affiliation and certification.
Assists with EP marketing plan development in conjunction with PR/Marketing Account Executive including Web development.
Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
Develops, coordinates and participates in community outreach education and programs.
Travels to all Iowa Heart Center offices, associated hospitals outside of Des Moines area as needed.
Operate required vehicle(s) in a safe manner to perform required duties of the position.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive specialist certification program OR an Advanced medical training degree (Associates of Science degree or Associate’s degree in paramedic, or Allied Health Profession)
2 years EP lab experience, EP/device experience, or equivalent
Basic life support competency
ACLS required within 6 months in Cath lab
HRS certification preferred.
Valid Iowa Driver’s
Proof of current personal automobile insurance as required by Iowa law.
Advanced computer skills required to include database management.
Worker is required to arrive at hospital within 20 minutes for emergency cases on call.
