Summary :
Provides direct and in-direct patient care under direction of office leadership. Performs duties such as routine intake of patients which includes taking vital signs, performing point of care testing as appropriate and assuring patients understand their discharge instructions. May also be required to transport patients. They will also be required to answer phone messages, propose orders per the JPP and assure providers are made aware when there are outstanding tasks on their desktops/message center that they must complete.
Responsibilities:
- Communicates and interacts with patients and families, physicians, peers and other health care members to maximize successful customer outcomes and maximize function of the unit
- Orients patient to hospital environment and routine
- Attends and serves on one-unit committee or educational peer opportunity to improve quality and/or engagement
- Documents all aspects of patient care in a timely manner
- Participates in unit quality improvement initiatives
- Provides care in accordance with the patient's plan of care
- Label and Delivers specimens per policy
- Maintains a safe environment complying with Northern Light Health policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed
- May perform other duties upon request.
Other Information :
Graduate of an accredited two-year Medical Assistant program or Or certified by the NHA or AAMA preferred. For those not certified, National certification must be successfully attained within 6 months of employment and maintained after completion of certificate or degree program to meet compliance to perform in this position.

Education
- Required High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED)Graduate of an accredited two-year Medical Assistant program or Or certified by the NHA or AAMA preferred.
