ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Associate will conduct consumer research in support of product development for Pfizer Consumer Healthcare R&D in North America, specifically on core brands such as Emergen-C and Centrum. The candidate will design and execute consumer and expert panel studies so to succinctly communicate results to colleagues and management. In addition, the candidate will support initiatives to advance the company’s products research community and practice as a whole.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Be the “Voice of the Consumer” providing consumer insights to help lead consumer driven innovation on core brands for North America.Design, manage, execute, and analyze both qualitative and quantitative consumer research methodologies, using internal capabilities and external research vendors.
Use state of the art consumer research methodologies (ethnography, focus groups, descriptive panels, central location tests, in home use testing, and/or mobile testing, etc.) to translate consumer understanding and product preferences into product design criteria that guide the product design teams.
Work on expansive project teams, with R&D and other cross functional partners, to help guide the development of new product opportunities using consumer research appropriate for product experience testing. Develop and design succinct and robust consumer learning plans for new product initiatives so to drive consumer driven innovation throughout a project.
Be an advocate for Products Research/ Consumer Science work within R&D. Build strong relationships within all of R&D to demonstrate the added value Products Research brings to R&D process and to help train and coach R&D partners in Products Research skills, capability and value. Develop strong working relationships with Marketing and Market Research counterparts, building trust and appreciation for the role that Products Research / Consumer Science plays.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with a strong scientific background and relevant experience in sensory science and consumer research. Master’s degree, with 6+ months of experience, or Bachelor’s degree in food science, biology, chemistry, and/or other related scientific field and 2-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent work experience.
Experience must be within an R&D position, assisting in the development of new consumer products, and with exposure to Marketing and Market Research.
Requires at least 2 years of hands on experience in the direct application of consumer testing and consumer products research tools to define articulated and unarticulated consumer needs and insights and to lead the development of new consumer health care products. Independent and practical experience in the design, implementation and summarization of consumer testing is a must.
Demonstrated ability to understand and act on key technical knowledge and insight. Ability to interact and influence key technologists and technical influencers making the connection between what is needed to delight the consumer and what is possible with technology.
Person must also be able to successfully interact directly with consumers, leading focus groups and one-on-one interviews as needed. Must be able to put consumers at ease and demonstrate strong listening skills.
Quickly learn software(s) that design surveys and analyze raw consumer data.
Apply scientific/technical knowledge, experimentation, critical thinking, and data analysis to drive technical work.
Ability to present consumer learnings orally, in written form, and in presentations to successfully influence business and R&D partners.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with a background in sensory science, food science, psychology, behavioral sciences, and/or equivalent field with 2-4 years of experience in consumer research in leading FMCG, Pharma or Biotech companies.

Sitting for extended periods of time at a desk or table to complete documentation and computer work, ability to lift up to 25 pounds
