Senior Member of Technical Staff – Managed NAND System Architect

Within this community, the Non-Volatile Products Innovation Team has a unique role. Led by only one of four Senior Fellows at Micron, the Non-Volatile Products Innovation Team is chartered with envisioning, creating, developing and deploying innovative solutions to the most difficult problems faced by non-volatile memory systems today and in the future. Leveraging a relatively small, very select group of technical contributors with expertise that ranges all the way from Si to system, the focus is on cross-functional solutions utilizing vertical integration.
A successful candidate for Senior Member of Technical Staff – Managed NAND System Architect will have extensive experience in Managed NAND for the mobile market design and architecture for eMMC/UFS products. Significant depth of expertise in Managed NAND architecture and design utilizing NAND Flash, System ASIC to optimize eMMC/UFS product cost, performance, power and thermal management with a proven track record for innovative solutions is required. In addition, functional skills demonstrating breadth of technical knowledge in non-volatile memory architecture and functionality, system ASIC architecture and functionality, system firmware architecture and implementation is highly desirable. This is a unique role for a very creative and highly skilled Managed NAND designer/architect.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Innovate new solutions to complex multi-disciplinary problems by collaborating with other team members with skill sets ranging from Si to system.
Developing, evaluating and optimizing new Managed NAND for the mobile market architectures that improve cost, performance, power and reliability of eMMC and UFS product portfolios compared to today’s state of the art.
Define cost, performance, power metrics and quantify proposed solutions utilizing critical analysis skills to determine the pros and cons leading to a value proposition determination.
Exercise leadership skills by demonstrating the ability to drive complex projects from idea conception through evaluation and implementation.
Work closely with teams focused on execution to deploy developed projects with high quality and minimized time to market.
Educate and mentor other technical contributors within the organization to raise their level of technical expertise.
Successful candidate for this position will have:
Technical expertise in multiple disciplines of Managed NAND for the mobile market architecture and design including NAND Flash architecture, System ASIC architecture, Managed NAND performance optimization, Managed NAND power and thermal management.
Proven track record of innovative solutions taken from conception through implementation as demonstrated by patent portfolio and/or examples of competitive advantage gained over previous solutions.
Articulate vision for new concepts through excellent documentation and presentation skills.
Leadership skills to inspire, motivate and drive peer contributors with varied skill sets towards a common goal.
Successful partnerships with internal and external subject matter experts, advancing product development outcomes and setting the direction for future system products
Bachelors of Science (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science and 10-15 years of non-volatile memory system and/or Managed NAND design and development for the mobile market experience
In-depth understanding of Managed NAND for the mobile market architecture and design, performance optimization and power management techniques
Experience in storage protocols (eMMC, UFS), NAND interfaces (ONFI, Toggle Mode) and mobile device platform systems.
Ability to assess new or expanded capabilities to be implemented and quantify impact to Managed NAND systems for the mobile market with respect to cost, performance, power and complexity
Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of non-volatile memory and system ASIC devices
Strong leadership skills and cross-functional teamwork
Self-motivated and significant problem-solving skills
