Position Summary:
Metis Construction is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager with a background in Commercial Construction to fill a key role within our growing organization. This position will report directly to the Executive Vice President of Construction Operations. The ideal candidate will have experience managing commercial construction projects from inception to close-out ensuring all projects are completed safely, on time, on budget, based on plans and specifications. Essential Accountabilities:
- Oversee the entire construction project: including safety, resources, performance, budget, scheduling, equipment management, quality, and risk analysis.
- Plan, execute, communicate, document and finalize construction projects within budget.
- Oversee quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Partner with estimators, engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to plan, organize and direct activities concerning construction projects.
- Coordinate all aspects of the construction process, including hiring contractors and working with general contractors, engineers, architects, vendors, cities, and counties.
- Negotiate contracts with architects, vendors, contractors, and other project team members.
- Visit construction sites and partner with Superintendent to monitor progress. Ensure that a project is completed according to schedule, resolve problems that arise due to inclement weather, emergencies or other issues that may cause delays.
- Manage the process to ensure that documented commitments made in the developmental phases of a project are implemented at the proper time.
- Attend weekly project status meetings and assists in problem-solving efforts.
- Review specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to support project layout.
- Confirm all drawings and specifications are examined, prior to beginning construction, for design deficiencies, impractical details, and possible code violations, and bring them to a resolution.
- Monitor costs and budgets of the project. Assess cost effectiveness of projects, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
- Ensure that the project schedule, dates and times for General Contractor and Owner decisions, availability of design information, procurement of materials and subcontracts, lead times, and field installation, is established and maintained.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as contract plans and specifications.
- Review status reports and modifies schedules or plans as required for review.
- Deliberate with the project team to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:*
- Adhere to company safety standards.
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management or related field, preferred.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in the commercial construction industry, preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of commercial construction project management experience, preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Ability to commute to various job sites (mainly in northeast Ohio), required.
- Valid driver’s license, required.
- Clear, accurate and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional and flexible communication style.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated abilities in planning, problem-solving, and decision making.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Positive and goal oriented, willing to accept the challenge of new assignments and be able to work well with others.
