As one of our Fiber Optic Communication Technicians, you are a valuable part of our success collaborating with the team to deliver “Beyond the Expected” results. We are currently searching for these team members in Germantown, MD and Manassas, VA.
Commit to safe work – there is nothing more important!
Perform basic to complex installation, troubleshooting & repair of copper and fiber systems under minimal supervision
Monitor, communicate and perform corrective actions to fix problems affecting any fiber or fiber related equipment
Prep cable, learn splicing, connectors, installation of fiber optic cabinets
OSP/ISP splice enclosure manufacturers
Access the fiber optic splicer enclosure and splice the necessary fibers directly from a bucket truck
Perform fiber characterization tests: OTDR, CD/PMD, ORL/OLTS testing, power meter/laser source, and scopes
Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and/or install copper and fiber-based services
Prep, tray, and splice fiber optic cable ranging from single fiber to large counts as well as perform ring cut when needed
Splice and repair splicing of issue fibers using industry standard equipment
Terminate, splice, document and test fiber optic cables
Build, test, and document pre-terminated, ready-to-ship fiber optic cable assemblies
Provide accurate equipment location, splicing and terminating records for the fiber database
Install demarcation enclosures, switches and other telecom equipment
Other duties as assigned
Here’s What You Need:
General knowledge of OTDR and Light Source and Power Meter
Familiar with splice drawings and OTDR test sheets and reading traces
Familiar with all parts associated with splicing and connectorization
Ability to read splicing matrix and design drawings
Ability to work with all types of fiber, loose tube, ribbon, etc.
Cable prep/single and mass fusion splicing and termination abilities
Fiber optic test and troubleshooting abilities to include fiber characterization, iOLM and advance documentation and deliverable responsibilities
