The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for Donation Supervisor.

Responsible for the overall management, operation, security and maintenance of all donated items in the Donation Center; receives, processes and distributes all store and auto donations; inspects and determines the fair market value of all donations; ensures all donated items are unloaded and processed in an efficient, effective and timely manner; supervises beneficiaries and/or employees in the donation center.
Processes store and auto donations in an efficient manner in accordance with established Salvation Army policies and procedures and local, state and federal regulations.
Acquires store and auto donations from Center dock areas; inspects merchandise for repairable, re-useable and re-sellable merchandise; directs merchandise to appropriate Center shops for repair and ensures that repair costs do not exceed the value of the merchandise.
Sorts merchandise into designated categories based on type and condition of merchandise; separates damaged items to be discarded and/or sent to auction or compactor.
Prepares and maintains asset inventory by stock number; ensures donations are properly categorized, entered into the system and all paperwork is completed accurately, timely and within established policies and procedures.
Researches prices of various store and auto donations; inspects and oversees the fair market value of merchandise and accept or reject prices in accordance with the previously determined fair market value of the assets.
Prices and tags all merchandise, household appliances, furniture items, auto donations, etc. based on their type and condition before shipping to stores.
Ensures donors receive receipts for store and/or auto donations; advises donors of potential donated items which are not acceptable for receipt.
Responds to inquiries from donors regarding the process, documentation requirements and disposition of donated items; interacts with all donors in a friendly and courteous manner.
Oversees the maintenance of donor files to ensure they are current and in proper order in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Coordinates with Store Supervisor and/or other management officials regarding the supply and demand of merchandise for distribution to Family Stores; coordinates with Warehouse Management the shipment of items to all stores daily.
Completes daily delivery manifests of store deliveries listing items, ticket number, price and date distributed; keeps copies of these manifests in a filing system that can be easily understood by others who need to reference the system.
Evaluates store and auto donations to maintain the proper storage and to protect assets.
Receives, organizes and loads donated merchandise on to trailers and/or trucks in a systematic and orderly manner ensuring all items are shipped safely and securely to Family Stores.
Advises supervisor of any concerns related to attempts or coercion by individuals to purchase items from the Donation Center, related complaints, injuries and/or damages in or near the Donation Center.
Processes and maintains all documentation records of store and auto donations, including, but not limited to, pickup orders, sales invoices, copies of titles and receipts; ensures records are generated and processed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Coordinates and oversees the sales, invoicing and titles of donated vehicles; responds to letters from private, state, county and local agencies regarding traffic tickets, impoundment, and other inquiries regarding donated vehicles.
Prepares titles and other documents for auction sales; coordinates with private, local, county, and/or state agencies to clear titles and other ownership related documents for store and auto donations.
Coordinates with Risk Management and Center employees regarding various auto donations’ insurance issues.
Coordinates with auction companies and tow companies regarding various store and auto donations.
Serves as subject matter expert on all concerns and issues regarding store and auto donations.
Supervises, trains, evaluates, hiring and termination of all employees and/or beneficiaries in the Donations Office.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Knowledge of the practices and procedures of vehicle, boat, car and other large asset sales. Knowledge of title transfers, acquiring clear titles and other paperwork requirements of large asset sales. Ability to write grammatically correct and easily understandable reports. Ability to read and comprehend manuals and written instructions. Ability to prepare accurate and complete donor receipts. Ability to interact with donors in a friendly and courteous manner. Ability to proper load, secure, and account for donated merchandise. Ability to sort merchandise based on established categories. Ability to inspect donated items and determines reasonable and fair prices.
Education and Experience
Two years of college or technical school education with a degree in business administration, or a related field, and experience working in a warehouse or retail establishment sorting and pricing merchandise or with the selling of various assets such as vehicles, boats, motorcycles and other similar types of large assets, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Moderate physical effort required associated with lifting and carrying 25 to 50 pounds of merchandise, materials, and supplies on a frequent basis. Must be able to push or pull heavy loads, 50 to 100 pounds, of merchandise, materials, and supplies on an occasional basis. Work requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and some climbing.
Work is usually performed in a warehouse environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in the weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
