Smith & Porter is seeking a General Manager - Food & Beverage to oversee all aspects of food and beverage. Smith & Porter is comprised of a restaurant and bar, a café and catering services, as well as two private dining rooms, totalling 120-seats. It is located in Abiitan, an Ecumen senior housing development situated in the heart of the Mill City neighborhood of Downtown Minneapolis.

Responsibilities
This position oversees and coordinates all aspects of Food and Beverage for both Smith & Porter and Abiitan which includes The Terraces Assisted Living/Memory Care. This role is responsible for achieving outstanding levels of guest service, superior food quality, growing the business while meeting objectives in sales, costs, employee retention, food quality, cleanliness and sanitation.

The primary responsibilities for the General Manager - Food & Beverage are:

Guest Service:
Takes a leadership role in cultivating an ‘It’s all about you’ service attitude among the team members.
Ensure that all employees provide responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times for Abiitan and Smith & Porter.
Handles patron complaints promptly and courteously.
Works with clients and assists in the planning of special events, private parties, etc.

Supervision:
Supervises food and beverage service employees in accordance with operating policies.
Understands completely all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs.
Able to maintain proper staffing levels as well as food, liquor and all other expenses.

Food and Beverage Operations:
Understands the proper presentation, make up technique, preparation method and desired flavor of all items on the menu.
Oversees weekly purchasing and inventory of all food, beverage, and all other dry goods.
Abides by Food and Beverage License.
Additional duties include marketing and administrative duties, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
General Manager - Food & Beverage

Minimum Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Knowledge of service and food and beverage, generally involving at least three years of operations positions
Certified Food Manager in accordance with MN Department of Health
Valid driver’s license and driving record which meets Ecumen Driver Policy standards and proof of vehicle insurance
Flexible and adaptable to changing situations including ability to work irregular hours, attend meetings and special events
