Tampa Bay Trane has a new exciting opportunity to join our organization as a VRF Technical Specialist. In this position you will be working closely with our contractor customers and internal fulfillment teams to ensure proper installation and startup of Variable Refrigerant Flow Systems. As a Ductless HVAC subject matter expert, you will be focused primarily on post-sale technical & contractor support. This role will be the first line of defense for technical support for our customers installing Trane Mitsubishi ductless and VRF Products. You will also be providing sales support in the application of Trane/Mitsubishi VRF and ductless products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other functions may be assigned.

Responsible for VRF/Ductless product success.
Monitor, measure, and modify process and process measurements to effectively and efficiently meet customer needs.
Support VRF installations through quality assurance of product submittal, contractor pre-construction meetings and coordination, progress inspections during installation and system startup assistance/consulting.
Maintain customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, advising corrective action, and communicating with customers, and co-workers.
Provide commercial and high level technical product sales training to district office personnel and customers as required.
Responsible for field training of customers in the install and troubleshooting of VRF and Ductless products.
Able to troubleshoot VRF and ductless products and provide constructive guidance to installing contractors to enable success installations.
Able to oversee and advise on the startup and commissioning of VRF and ductless products
Build consultative relationships and trust with owners and contracting customers.
Support sales performance by coaching sales personnel in competent VRF and ductless product sales, application, and customer support.
Responsible for VRF and ductless design and layout assistance for engineering customers during design phase where required.
Support non-VRF system products as required.

Associate or Bachelor s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction or Engineering Technology, or other related areas; AND a minimum of 4 years of experience in the HVAC VRF (variable refrigeration) industry estimating and/or doing design work highly preferred. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5+ years of VRF installation and service industry experience with strong technical aptitude is expected.
Working knowledge of all facets of construction including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, etc. preferred.
Passion and excitement around VRF and desire to continually learn is required.
Must have ability to partner and team well with others.
Must be comfortable interfacing with customers and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
Must be able to travel throughout assigned territory.
Must possess a valid driver s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as construction documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write clear and concise reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or coworkers.


Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


The candidate must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. The candidate must possess the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The work environment is a mix of the typical office work environment and visits to active construction sites. Visiting construction sites requires working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms and possible extreme weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles.
