YOUR MISSION (The Job Description)
The Host/Hostess responsibilities include greeting guests, providing accurate wait times, and escorting customers to the dining and bar areas. For this role, the Host/Hostess should have solid organizational and people skills to make sure our guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive till their departure.
THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)
- Welcome guests to the venue
- Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists
- Manage reservations
- Escort customers to assigned dining or bar areas
- Provide menus and announce Waiter/Waitress's name
- Greet customers upon their departure
- Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options
- Maintain a clean reception area
- Cater to guests who require extra attention (e.g. children, elderly)
- Answer incoming calls and address customers' queries
- Assist wait staff as needed
- Ensure that items are fully stocked, and equipment is in good working condition
- Strong knowledge and consistent use of SNHD regulations and standards
- Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively in a team
- Consistently maintains clean and safe work area for self and other team members
- Participate in seamless operation between BOH + FOH staff members ensuring proper service to our guests
- Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written English
- Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized work environment including stocking of supplies, polishing cutlery/glassware, folding napkins, cleaning menus, sanitizing tables, etc.
- Explain basic details of food dishes and beverages to guests
- Perform to high standards of excellence, execution, and cleanliness
- Always keep your active SNHD Food Handler's card with you while on property
- Report health and safety incidents and concerns directly to leadership in an accurate and timely manner
- Contribute to successful SNHD health inspections
- Monitor and ensure cleanliness of all place settings, tabletops, seats and floor
- Communicate with cashier and servers for needs and any guest service issues
- Actively participate in all scheduled required training sessions
WHAT IT TAKES (The Qualities We Look For)
- Strong communication skills, inclusive of spelling and grammar in English
- Ability to move quickly and efficiently through the dining room and potentially kitchen
- Work environment is noisy, must constantly receive and communicate information
- Ability to bend, stoop, balance, and reach-ins necessary
- Job requires lifting/carrying max weight of 30lbs
- Stand for a period of 8 to 10 hours continuously
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- A team player with good communication skills
- Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
- Understanding of restaurant etiquette
- Experience in managing reservations
- Demonstrable customer-service skills
- Excellent communication skills (via phone and in-person)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining and bar area
MUST HAVE'S
- Current, legal and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
- High School education or equivalent
- Ability to communicate in English clearly and pleasantly with guests management/co-workers, both in person and on the telephone
- Preferred: Additional foreign language
- Food Service Handler Card and TABC certification that is currently valid for a minimum of at least 6 months
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
