Packaging Graphics Account Manager

We employ over 250 account managers, strategists, designers, production artists, graphics application and workflow specialists, programmers, color scientists and printing experts in offices through-out the US, Europe and Asia. Phototype has an onsite office inside Hershey and we have an exciting opportunity for a Packaging Graphics Account Manager (internally, we call this position Packaging Graphics Technologist).

Reporting to the VP, Managed Services, the Packaging Graphics Technologist ensures the timely execution of packaging graphics and adherence to brand identity. The Packaging Graphics Technologist is responsible for the execution of graphics in preparation for printing, including project timelines, production printability, minimizing costs and adherence to design deliverables of the project. In addition, provides guidance on print process requirements and printability to support areas both within Phototype and our client, Hershey (i.e. marketing, printers, pre-press, converters, etc.)

The successful candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented and has the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while anticipating the needs of client.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for graphics specifications and the graphic approval process
Serves as subject matter expert for all things relating to the packaging print process
Ensures brand visual identity and adherence to design standards
Communicates technical challenges in order to adapt a given design to meet regional suppliers capabilities
Partner with packaging engineer(s) to ensure graphics requirements are represented in the package technical drawings
Establishes priorities for execution of a project to secure accurate and attainable timelines
Proactively escalate key issues to supervisors and project team on issues that impact timely and quality execution of graphics
Advise and implement corrective actions and provide transparency to functional areas to ensure adherence to production schedules
Proactively keep the lines of communication between internal and external partners open in order to resolve technical and design problems
Drive accountability to deliver accuracy of the final copy
Partner with procurement to make recommendations on the selection of packaging material suppliers based on the integration of brand equity requirements, supplier capacity and complexity of the supply base
Ensure that the graphics revision process operates in an efficient, profitable manner
Provide project cost estimates and ensure transparency of costing as a result of changes
Establish technical printing guides for every project based on the printing method, in order to ensure best possible execution
Propose solutions to reduce the cost of projects in order to assure a balance between the cost and the perceived value of the packages
Responsible for coordinating corrective actions for the resolution and correction of graphic errors in order to minimize production impact
Stay abreast of new technology and advances about printing methods, that impact graphics development process

Experience & Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Graphics Communication – or equivalent experience
Basic knowledge of color separation, management and printing processes required (i.e. flexographic, rotogravure, offset, digital)
Experience in print production, pre-press and printing processes ideal
Basic proficiency in color management, inks and packaging substrates
Minimum 1 years graphic design or printing work experience ideal
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator and Photoshop
Fundamental knowledge of XRite spectrophotometry and densitometry, a plus
Experience in SAP, a plus
