PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. Responds to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolates problem, and determines and implements solution.
TYPICAL DUTIES: 1. Provides technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware. 2. Responds to queries either in person or over the phone. 3. Writes training manuals. 4. Trains computer users. 5. Maintains daily performance of computer systems. 6. Responds to email messages for customers seeking help. 7. Asks questions to determine nature of problem. 8. Walks customer through problem-solving process. 9. Installs, modifies, and repairs computer hardware and software. 10. Cleans up computers. 11. Runs diagnostic programs to resolve problems. 12. Resolves technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems.
13. Installs computer peripherals for users. 14. Follows up with customers to ensure issues have been resolved. 15. Gains feedback from customers about computer usage.
16. Runs reports to determine malfunctions that continue to occur.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE Proven experience as a help desk technician or other IT related customer support role. Tech savvy with working knowledge of office automation products, databases and remote control. Basic support and troubleshooting experience with desktop, laptop and printers helpful. Experience with CAT 5/6 networking, Windows Server and Active Directory preferred. Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices and other tech products. Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
