Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse
Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our team. The PMHNP will play a crucial role in evaluating
patients’ mental health needs, diagnosing mental health disorders, and managing
medications to optimize care. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to provide a
patient-centered approach will be essential.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Patient Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including diagnostic evaluations to determine the appropriate medication treatment plan.

Review vitals for abnormalities and routinely update and address new medical issues for follow up care.

Medication Management: Prescribe, adjust, monitor, and manage psychiatric medications, evaluating their effectiveness and making necessary adjustments to achieve optimal outcomes.

Order, review and interpret lab test results while ensuring to sign off on documented review.

Collaboration: Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists and other healthcare providers to ensure integrated and comprehensive care.

Patient Education: Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment plans, potential side effects of medications and strategies for medication adherence.

Ongoing Monitoring: Monitor patients’ responses to medications, identifying and managing potential side effects or complications and make appropriate referrals if necessary.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medication history, treatment plans and progress notes.

Schedule: Maintain an accurate and up to date schedule, including patient attendance, billing codes and provider cancellations.

Compliance: Adhere to all federal and state laws regarding prescribing and managing psychiatric medications, including compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Consultation: While there is not a requirement for continuous supervision from a practicing physician, opportunities to check in with the Medical Director monthly as well as consultations on an as needed basis will be available.

Time Commitment: Flexible availability is suggested as this is a new program and hours will gradually increase over time.
Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree in Nursing with a speciality in Psychiatric Nursing

Licensing: Must have an active and unrestricted RN and NP license, along with a

DEA license in California, Utah or both.

Malpractice Insurance

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in psychiatric medication management preferred to practice without a collaborative physician.
Skills and Knowledge:

In-depth knowledge of psychiatric disorders, pharmacology, and medication management strategies.

Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families and other healthcare professionals.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of mental health and emotional disorder.
Other Requirements:

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team,

Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and other medical software.

Ability to submit needed documentation for insurance credentialing, including Medicare and Medi-cal.
