Full Job Description
The Payroll Technical Lead works closely with payroll operations and HRIS team members to identify and define business requirements. The holder of this position develops ad-hoc queries, develops and maintains Fast Formula payroll calculations, interfaces using SQL and HCM Extract, and develops and executes unit test plans and participates in end-to-end testing. The Payroll Technical Lead must have functional and technical experience with time and payroll calculations, regulatory compliance, payroll tax compliance, and general accounting and will apply the knowledge in identifying, recommending, and supporting system maintenance and enhancements. Additionally, the Payroll Technical Lead supports payroll business users in troubleshooting, system training, and various data reporting. Leverages Oracle HCM tools to develop and test more efficient payroll business processes to simplify and ensure process improvement opportunities are fully leveraged.
Payroll systems subject matter expert (SME) working with end-users, payroll customers, management, and respective payroll service provider(s).
Responsible for analyzing systems, data configuration, identifying business needs, data mapping, develops test scripts, and performs testing and analyzes results.
Coordinates with HR, Payroll, IT, and systems vendor(s) to ensure all systems are integrated.
Documents, and updates as needed, systems processes and procedures.
Reviews processing and audit reports in support of payroll operations.
Provides on-call support during payroll processing as needed.
Perform mass updates of records using HDL.
Required Education and Experience:
5 + years' experience in processing multi-state payroll and system upgrades and/or implementations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at once.
Works well under pressure and deadlines.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Strong analytical skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with BI Publisher, OTBI, Fast Formula, SQL, Payroll and HR Data Models, HDL, HSDL
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Strong Payroll Business and Operational knowledge and experience
Experience with Oracle Cloud HCM is a must.
Expected Hours of Work:
Normal business hours with some after-hours payroll support possible.
