We are currently looking for an Analyst – Private Equity Real Estate for the Americas team of Franklin Templeton Real Asset Advisors our dedicated investment platform for real assets. This position will be based in Franklin Templeton’s New York office.
Franklin Templeton Real Asset Advisors is a dedicated platform specializing in global real estate and infrastructure investments. Established in 1984, we manage a range of private equity real estate investments. The investment team constantly screens the globe in search of attractive investment opportunities utilizing Franklin Templeton’s global presence and network of real estate local operators for new opportunities.
The ideal candidate for the Analyst - Private Equity Real Estate will have solid work experience in investing within the U.S. in property level acquisitions, private equity real estate partnerships, co-investments, joint-ventures, club deals, as well as have a good understanding of U.S. real estate markets.
What are the main duties and responsibilities?
Analysis and due diligence of private real estate direct investments, joint-ventures, club deals, co-investments, funds and secondary transactions
Manage the team’s investment pipeline and monitor potential opportunities across targeted markets and multiple asset classes including Office, Retail, Multifamily, and Industrial.
Participate in all aspects of the deal process including underwriting property level cash flows, market research, rental and sales comp analysis, IC memos and presentations, due diligence, and closing.
Ongoing monitoring of American private equity real estate portfolio investments by periodic visits of operators/managers, assets and advisory board/investor meetings
Assist in asset management responsibilities including preparation of periodic reporting initiatives as well as providing support on implementation of business plan
Perform hold / sell analysis and preparation of disposition-related Investment Committee memos
Research and analysis of U.S. real estate markets
Participating in marketing initiatives for new private equity real estate products
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
1-3 years of work experience with proven real estate experience and a good understanding of U.S. real estate markets within real estate private equity, real estate banking, an operating company
Strong academic background – Bachelors required
Fluency in English
Proven analytical skills and working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Argus Enterprise Preferred.
Strong analytical skills – excellent quantitative analytical capabilities combined with strong financial modelling skills (Excel), applying investment analysis and research techniques to assess/analyse the strategic and financial impact of trends, developments or initiatives and ability to recommend the appropriate action
Knowledge of financial statements and cash flow analysis
Strong communications skills with the ability to use both written and oral communication to gain internal support and enthusiasm for initiatives and to create thought-provoking material
The ability to simplify complex and ambiguous situations and to filter relevant content from background noise, independent judgment is critical. Attention to detail and commitment to excellence
Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and with colleagues as part of a team, independently plan, organize and prioritize work
Strong interpersonal skills; strong team player; highest degree of intellectual honesty and integrity; high energy, drive and determination
Willingness and desire to travel
