Repair the World mobilizes Jews and their communities to take action to pursue a just world. We believe that service in support of social change is vital to a flourishing Jewish community and an inspired Jewish life. Repair is building a national Jewish service movement. Repair mobilizes young adults to serve in their communities, catalyzes service through deep partnerships within Jewish communal organizations, and inspires people to take action through time-bound thematic national service campaigns. Our mission provides volunteers with an increased connection to meaningful service and learning as a Jewish value, builds capacity for nonprofit partners to meet their missions, and deepens connections across lines of difference.

Repair the World New York mobilizes 8,750 acts of service and learning a year, and works with over 30 service and Jewish organizational partners. Our volunteers focus on addressing issues related to immigration justice, housing justice, food insecurity, and educational disparities.
Repair the World New York launched in 2016 and offers the Service Corps and ongoing volunteering opportunities. The Service Corps mobilizes young adults to meet community needs through part-time, time-bound Jewish service. Young adults, ages 18-39, serve directly with local partners providing direct services, and learn about social change, local context for their service, and Jewish wisdom in community through weekly learning sessions with their peers. Through pairing service with Jewish learning and values, Repair provides an entry-point to Jewish life for Jewish young adults who may not be traditionally engaged with the broader Jewish community.
Repair the World NYC engages thousands of New Yorkers in meaningful volunteering opportunities every week of the year. Duringthe week of MLK Day, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy through dozens of important service opportunities. This year, we are excited to continue this tradition of service by engaging more than 2,000 people in service and learning throughout NYC over the four-day MLK Weekend. We are able to do this work through the generous support of UJA Federation of NY.
The Temporary Event Coordinator will manage all logistical components of the weekend of service including:coordinating the set-up of each event, ordering program supplies, managing website updates and other logistics as needed. This person will also be responsible for liaising with funders and service partners, and serve as an integral member of the NYC Repair the World staff team during our biggest weekend of the year.
This is a temporary part-time non-exempt position. The Temporary Event Coordinator will report to the New York City Director, work collaboratively and closely with local partners and is based in New York. This is a hybrid position and some on-site work is required. Candidates must be available for onsite work on and around MLK Weekend 2025 (January 17-20, 2025)
- Logistic & Administrative Management

Oversee project management, operations and logistics for the MLK weekend of Service across New York City. This includes: managing communications with organizational partners, securing spaces for service projects; ordering project supplies from distributors; coordinating schedules of volunteers and staff

Facilities & Safety Compliance

In collaboration with Repair staff ensure that locations are secure and accessible.

Using scenario planning, ensure that staff are prepared for different situations that could arise during programming

Staffing Projects

In coordination with Repair staff, get input on and make decisions on staffing for each project.

Partner & Donor Relationships

Maintain consistent communication with Repair's partners and donors throughout the entire planning process and during programming, particularly our major donor for MLK: UJA Federation of NY

Ensure that all projects meet pressing local needs

Data & Website Management

Engage in consistent data entry to ensure accurate tracking and information sharing

Communicate and collaborate with Repair's national team on website management and maintenance as needed
- 2-4 years of experience as a project manager and/or event coordinator

Experience or strong familiarity with managing large groups of volunteers

Demonstrated experience communicating with vendors and high-level donors

Demonstrated success in handling projects that require exceptional attention to detail and strong record keeping skills

Experience managing a budget

Strong computer skills, including comfort with Salesforce and ability to troubleshoot data and website issues

The hourly wage for this role is $32 per hour for 28 hours per week. Start date is ASAP and the position will run through January 31, 2025.
