The Network Security Engineer will analyze and define security requirements for MLS issues. They will design, develop, engineer, and implement solutions to MLS requirements. The person in this role will also lead the effort to gather and organize technical information about an organization's mission goals and needs, existing security products, and ongoing programs in the MLS arena. They will perform risk analyses which also includes risk assessment. Develop security standards.

Duties:
  • Performing a security analysis of the entire ground system, including technologies used and best practices.
  • Providing and updating a System Security Plan that describes how the ground system meets its security categorization and profile.
  • Supporting security assessment and system security audits, including external audits performed by independent organizations.
  • Maintaining the security of the ground system through its operational lifecycle.
  • Working with stakeholders, including the Chief Information Officer and the Information System Security Officer and their representatives to establish and maintain the system security, related documentation, and related, ongoing security assessments and security reports.
  • Reviewing and securing new technology prior to its introduction into the ground system.
  • Evaluating the feasibility for implementing security improvements and best practices in the ground system.
  • Recommending process improvements and refinements from a security perspective to institute a more comprehensive approach to ground system security Plan of Action and Milestone (POAM) resolution.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or related field
  • Three years of relevant work experience
  • Manage and monitor firewall, IPS/IDS, and packet capture solutions
  • Scripting/programming skills (Perl, Python) and familiarity with ethical hacking, a plus
  • Knowledge of UNIX and Windows environments as may pertain to Network and Security tasks including syslog, DNS, load balancers, Windows Event Log
  • Desired Certifications include: SANS/GIAC, CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCNA Security, CCNP Security, Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), CCDP, CCIE Security, Cisco IronPort Web Security Appliance (WSA) Minimum
