DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR JOB DESCRIPTION:

Resolute Management Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Database Administrator for our Boston location with prior experience with SQL Server 2008/2012 (2016 a plus) to become part of a small team of software engineers and analysts that develop and maintain claim management systems serving both internal users and external clients. The DBA will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of company databases. This role is expected to spend time weekly (15%) supporting production data requests from users. Candidates able to commute to our Boston, MA location only please.

DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write SQL scripts & stored procedures to maintain and automate job functions and responsibilities
  • Respond to user requests for data changes and data extracts in production environment Install, configure and support SQL
  • Server environment including SSRS, SSIS, mirroring, SQL mail, SQL agent
  • Perform best practices related to monitoring, security, and performance tuning (Operating System, SQL Server, Disk Utilization, TSQL queries)
  • Develop, manage, test and monitor back-up and recovery plans
  • Lead dialogue on requirements on virtualized and physical infrastructure
  • Work closely with IT vendor, software engineers and business analysts to ensure high availability and proper functioning of databases
  • Document processes and issues in compliance with auditor recommendations

DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of administrative and development experience with SQL Server, including significant production support
  • Experience installing, configuring and supporting SQL Servers
  • Experience with database security, scaling and performance
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles of database design and maintenance best practices
  • Understanding of database virtual and physical resource requirements and experience planning for large scale database environments
  • Familiarity with Data Warehousing, software development life cycle (SDLC) and disaster recovery planning
  • Hands on experience with transactional replication and mirroring
  • Understanding of and ability to make recommendations regarding local and federal laws related to data privacy and security

DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in financial services industry, including participation in internal or external IT audits
  • Experience transitioning databases from on-premises to cloud
  • Familiar with SQL
  • Reporting services including creating, modifying and managing custom reports
  • Willingness to keep up-to-date with new technology and continuous professional development
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and investigative skills
  • Good communication and teamwork
  • Organized, detail-oriented and able to thoroughly document processes, issues and solutions

DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor of Science in technical field (computer science, information technology, engineering)

DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • SQL Server 2008/2012; SQL Server 2016 and Azure a plus SSIS package configuration & implementation
  • Advance knowledge of SQL language Scripting tools such as Powershell, batch files, etc.
