Summary of Key Responsibilities
The director of engineering, Marketing Technology leads diverse engineering teams to support strategic technology innovation, planning, and partnerships in support of our personalization and content management platforms.
Works with the Senior Leadership Team to identify significant opportunities, map them to the Company’s strategic goals, achieve leadership alignment, and create plans against which to execute.
Defines and communicates the vision and roadmaps for Starbucks Technology and overall enterprise architecture to internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure tight alignment with Starbucks strategies and programs.
Develops strategic and operational plans for the work group- managing execution and measuring results.
Ensures a strategic understanding of technology evolution to anticipate technology needs for future enterprise architecture initiatives.
Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team(s) on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
Creates the decision process and oversees the governance of technology deployed globally to ensure it works within the enterprise architecture in manner consistent with enterprise principles and designs.
Leads the identification and negotiation of strategic technology partnerships and contributes to enterprise sourcing contracts to achieve broad business benefit and competitive advantage.
Leads the senior management team in identifying options and return on investment of technology investments.
Communicates effectively with positive impact. Listens attentively, processes, and takes appropriate action.
Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results.
Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together. Foster a culture of innovation and thought leadership. Cultivate innovative concepts and provide opportunities to transform ideas into technology solutions.
Accountable for the productivity, work quality, collaboration, and positive, engaging behavior of team members. Provides partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities supporting career development and formation of effective teams. Ability to manage teams comprised managers and engineering professionals at a variety of levels.
Summary of Experience
Experience with micro-services environment running at very high requests/sec (10K/sec)
Experience with building and managing high volume distributed transactional systems
Experience with building cloud native applications
Experience with data lakes / data warehousing systems
10+ years’ experience building and leading teams of engineers.
Demonstrated experience directing the software development function, including the process, design, development, delivery and maintenance of software products and services.
Demonstrated experience developing and delivering solutions for retail, internet or similar companies.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills: you can communicate conceptual ideas, engineering rationale and technical challenges both verbally and visually, to a wide range of audiences.
Experience working with distributed teams.
