The Red Hat Customer Portal Front End Development team is looking for a Web Developer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work as a member of a small team responsible for building and maintaining web applications deployed on the customer portal. You’ll also help develop and maintain our library of UI components used throughout Red Hat’s web properties. You'll help design UI patterns and interactions, write semantic markup, review pull requests, fix bugs, and participate in agile development while using some of the latest frontend technologies. As a Web Developer, you'll need to be smart, friendly, collaborative, curious, and passionate about UX design, web standards, and frontend development.
Primary job responsibilities
Collaborate on UX, design wireframes and mockups, and prototype UI concepts and web applications
Champion web standards, semantic markup, and web accessibility
Develop, support, and maintain web applications on the customer portal
Design and develop components for our web component library
Ensure feasibility of UI and UX designs
Review and test code with team members
Communicate and demo new applications and features with stakeholders
2+ years of web development experience
Proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, or Sketch
Thorough understanding of web standards, the importance of semantic HTML markup, and CSS
Understanding of progressive enhancement methodology
Proficient with CSS preprocessors like Sass and Less
Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and designing well thought-out UIs for all users
Comfortable using Git
Understanding of browser differences and how to test and overcome any discrepancies
Understanding of CSS custom properties
