The successful candidate will provide theoretical modeling and simulation support to projects on sensing and imaging.


The successful candidate will specifically:

  • Develop first-principles to empirical methods for computing the electronic structures of bulk and nanostructured semiconductors.
  • Develop methods to calculate the optical, dielectric, and transport properties of bulk and nanostructured materials.
  • Use COMSOL to study electromagnetic light propagation in dielectric structures.
  • Work closely with experimental physicists and engineers and provide theoretical support.
  • Write R&D-level proposals for semiconductor materials and device technology advancements.
  • Present R&D results at conferences and publish papers.


  • Knowledge of and experience with first-principles electronic structure methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in calculating optical, dielectric and transport properties.
  • Knowledge of studies related to nanostructured materials.
  • Ability to use COMSOL for optical, dielectric, electromagnetic, and device simulations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, strong organization skills with attention to detail, and excellent documentation capability.
  • Candidate should be enthusiastic and highly self-motivated.
  • Computer skills in MS Office, Linux, MatLab.
