Reporting to the Administrator Manager, Patient Care Services, and under the supervision of the registered nurse, the Safety Companion provides and promotes quality patient care and a safe environment for patients under supervision of nursing staff who may be unsafe to themselves or others or who need additional assistance. The Safety Companion provides direct visual surveillance via close and/or continuous observation and monitoring, ensuring optimal patient safety and patient comfort. Patient population ranges from young adulthood through elderly patients.
Hospital or healthcare experience preferred.
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider is required.
Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
Must have the knowledge and ability to apply proper body mechanics and safety.
Must have the knowledge and ability to provide personal services for patients and care for equipment and supplies.
Conditions of Employment:
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI fingerprint-based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
