Office Assistant - Parks & Recreation

As our Office Assistant, you will become part of our close-knit Parks & Recreation family. We are looking for an organized, outgoing person. The ideal candidate will have high energy while possessing the utmost professionalism as this role will certainly play a vital role in the office.
You will need to be able at times to thrive in a fast-paced, frequently hectic environment. The main responsibility of this role will be to make the office run as smoothly as possible. It is also incredibly crucial that customers receive a warm welcome in the office. You will assist in performing a variety of administrative functions (routine & advanced clerical, secretarial and administrative) while assisting the Parks & Recreation Department with providing high quality service to the community.
Hours 22 ½ per week Monday through Friday. Shift hours 8:30 to 1:00pm and 12:30 to 5:00pm; must be available to work both shifts, shifts to be confirmed upon start date. Hours would increase to cover vacation, sick when required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (including ability to read and write the English language); with specialized course work in general office practices such as keyboarding, filing, accounting, and bookkeeping, and Two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience – any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to maintain an organized filing system, type, alphabetize and categorize information.
- Proficient with the use a personal computer as well as the capacity to utilize computer word processing & spreadsheet applications (i.e., Microsoft Office).
- Ability to learn to use specialized database software.
- Ability to use general modern office equipment (multi-function telephone, fax machine, copy machine).
- Excellent customer service skills including the ability to interact with a diverse population efficiently and courteously.
- Performs research and retrieve information from databases and other resources.
- Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing and adequately deal with stressful situations.
- A valid driver's license in good standing.
- Adequate transportation which allows the ability to travel around the city.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
