Job Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Associate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient handling of incoming and outgoing materials, including steel products. This position is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and organizing incoming shipments, preparing outbound shipments, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials, including steel products, against shipping documentation.
- Safely load and unload trucks using forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
- Accurately document and report received shipments and any discrepancies.
- Prepare and package orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy and proper labeling.
- Operate material handling equipment to move steel products within the warehouse.
- Organize and maintain the inventory in the warehouse, ensuring products are stored safely.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Communicate with drivers, vendors, and internal teams to coordinate shipments and deliveries.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counting and stock replenishment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse operations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in shipping and receiving, preferably in a steel service center or similar industrial environment.
- Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift, stand, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations, especially regarding material handling and steel products.
