Job Description: This is a vital role in leading technical teams and providing subject technical expertise in the areas of Communication and Video/Voice systems to ensure mission objectives are achieved.
Design and install highly available, multi-vendor (Cisco, Juniper, Extreme) networks supporting realtime data, voice and video inside mission critical launch support environments
Troubleshoot and manage mission critical networks configured with services and protocols to include but not limited to: (QoS) Quality of Service, Routing Protocols (OSPF, BGP), Multicast Routing (PIM, IGMP), TCP/UDP, Link Layer Discovery Protocols, Access Control Lists, Virtual LAN, SNMP Management, Netflow/Sflow/Jflow, Network Address Translation, Spanning Tree Protocol
Ensure reliable delivery of IP multicast based telemetry data sourced from launch vehicle, ground support equipment and RF down range data relay stations through entire launch lifecycle
Establish network specifications and requirements through cross organizational coordination for both ground and launch vehicle systems in support of manufacturing, processing, launch and recovery
Establish procedures for verification of requirements and specifications against selected network hardware through bench and integrated systems testing, while maintaining schedules and budgets
Recommend and apply network security processes and mechanisms to ensure the integrity of mission critical network systems and ensure the safety of personnel and flight hardware
Develop and maintain configuration control and inventory of all mission network assets
Create detailed documentation including functional and logical diagrams for all mission networks
Review network performance data using analysis tools for the recording and analyzing of raw network traffic on all mission networks support pre and post launch data review
Support 24/7 network monitoring and management using Network Performance Monitor Tool
Travel as needed to support launch operations, maintenance, or new network deployments
Previous experience with VoIP systems, including administration of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) appliances and Cisco IP Phones is a significant plus
Previous experience with DoD and/or U.S. Air Force network administration and engineering of unclassified and classified networks is a significant plus
Demonstrated experience and capabilities interfacing with high-level U.S. Air Force customers and with multiple DoD Agencies is a significant plus
Understanding of OPSEC requirements for the U.S. Air Force is a significant plus
Ability to prepare, objectively review, and deliver technical presentations is desired
Bachelor of Science in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)
Two (2) years or more years of experience
Experience with network design, network hardware procurement, network integration, and maintenance of network systems.
Experienced in troubleshooting network anomalies and failures.
Proven experience in the integration and testing of HW (servers, networking devices, clients) and testing of software (Operating Systems, networked applications, Databases, etc.)
Expert experience with clustering technologies in virtual machine environments.
Solid understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols.
Experience in high-availability networks in load-balanced, n-tier application environments.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship or U.S. naturalization
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher is required for this position (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISA, GSE, SCNA , CISSP, CASP CE). Candidates must be prepared to provide proof of current certification or other DoD-recognized higher level certification at the time of application.
Work Environment: This position is considered Mission Essential. Employees must be prepared to report to work and remain on site for extended periods of time during emergencies and exercises. The LISC team supports Cape Canaveral Air Force Station 12/7/365 by operating weekends and holidays, with possible on-call duties after hours depending on the launch schedule
