Senior Accountant

Mid-sized transportation company is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Senior Accountant. This position will be responsible for account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, month end closing including journal entries and fixed assets, payroll, and accounts receivable support. The applicant should display a positive and proactive attitude, strong organizational skills, strong communicator, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Weekly payroll
  • Support accounts receivable
  • Back-up for accounts payable
  • Administer monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP
  • Prepare reconciliations of balance sheet accounts including fixed assets and accumulated depreciation expense
  • Create analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)
  • Continual improvement the automation of the accounting and reporting process
  • Assist with other projects as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned; based on business needs.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance


  • 5+ years’ overall general accounting experience.

Knowledge/ Skills and Abilities:

  • Freight Forwarding experience a plus, but not required.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to type 60-65 wpm and use 10-key by touch.
  • ERP system experience (Dynamics NAV preferred).
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.
  • Follow established controls and processes.
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, research and resolution skills, and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
