Established in 1999, Transcon Environmental, Inc., offers environmental consulting services throughout the western United States with offices in Arizona, California, and Utah. Our company philosophy is “Understand and Serve.” We work to understand our clients’ needs and to provide professional service with our team of environmental planners, biologists, and archaeologists. In addition to environmental planning, permitting, and compliance, we provide infrastructure siting, construction management, and biological/cultural resource monitoring.

We are seeking a part-time Environmental Specialist for intermittent assignments. Working with the project team, the Environmental Specialist will be responsible for assessing numerous small projects each week for potential impacts relating to soils and groundwater. This task will primarily be an office/desktop task; no fieldwork is anticipated. Work includes preparation of reports within a short timeframe. We are open to applicants throughout California.

REQUIRED:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a field related to environmental planning, ecology, or environmental engineering
  • Basic understanding of subsurface groundwater, soils systems, and interactions
  • Basic understanding of surface water and stormwater runoff and erosion potential
  • Basic understanding of soil contaminants and transport through air/water/soil
  • One year performing professional environmental reviews
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with ArcGIS
  • Ability to work with a team under pressure with short deadlines
  • Effective communication skills (writing, email, and telephone)
  • Accuracy and dependability

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with State Water Resource Control Boards (SWRCB) GeoTracker
  • A year of full-time professional experience in environmental consulting
  • Familiarity with typical electrical utility operations and maintenance activities

This position is part-time, hourly, non-exempt, and not eligible for full benefits. Compensation will be based on qualifications, proficiencies, level of education, and years of experience. When overtime work is required, employee will be compensated with overtime pay in accordance with California law. We anticipate that employment will begin in August 2018.
