Under general guidance of the Entertainment & Attractions Supervisor, the IATSE Grounds Entertainment Stagehands are responsible for move in, set up, operations, and tear down of sound and lighting systems for Grounds and Grandstand Entertainment.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities - Grounds:

Working with Fairplex sound and lighting company for installation of equipment at various stages located throughout the Fair.

Powering up the sound and lighting systems upon arrival at stage.

Setting the stage and equipment needed for each act and working with entertainment act on their stage layout.

Conducting a sound check with each act prior to their first performance.

Monitoring and regulating the sound levels of the act throughout the performance.

Keeping the stage clean and mopping stage when needed.

Maintaining a visually appealing stage set up by hiding cords and sound equipment when applicable.

Fixing and straightening audience seating area when needed.

Assisting the entertainment act as needed.

Maintaining a clean and organized Front of House position.

Tearing down and locking up the sound equipment at the conclusion of the performance.

Submitting evaluation form on each performance act.

Working with Stage Manager at performance site when applicable.

Powering down the sound and lighting systems before leaving the performance area at the end of the performance.

Submitting hours to IATSE Grounds Supervisor for payroll.

Reporting any concerns or problems with entertainment acts or performance area to the IATSE Grounds Supervisor.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities Grounds Supervisor:

Communicating and meeting with the Entertainment & Attractions Supervisor throughout the year in preparation for the upcoming LA County Fair.

Submitting names to the Entertainment & Attractions Supervisor of the eligible IATSE stagehands who can be hired to work the Fair.

Scheduling IATSE stagehands as needed for assigned shifts.

Overseeing IATSE stagehands for move in and tear down of sound and lighting systems for Grounds and Grandstand Entertainment.

Supervising the IATSE stagehands during their shifts and assisting them with any concerns or issues at the stages.

Verifying that stage decibel levels are within approved range.

Assisting IATSE stagehands with entertainment move in and set up if needed.

Communicating with the Entertainment & Attractions Supervisor on any issues pertaining to any of the performance areas and throughout the grounds.

Submitting Grounds Entertainment payroll hours to Entertainment & Attractions Supervisor on a daily basis and submitting a finalized payroll sheet for both Grounds and Grandstand Entertainment at the end of pay period.
Requirements:

Applicants must be a member of IATSE Local 614 or approved by the IATSE Local 614 Ground Supervisor.

Applicant must be submitted by the IATSE Ground Supervisor to the Entertainment & Attractions Supervisor in order to be eligible to work at the L.A. County Fair.
Essential Elements of Job:

Must have reliable transportation.

Applicants must be in good physical condition and capable of performing the requirements involved.

Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.

Must be available to work during the L.A. County Fair.
