Physicians Mutual is hiring a Manager of Internal Audit to plan, organize, lead, and control audit activities and evaluations of the Companies’ systems of internal controls, which include all procedures, policies and systems implemented by management to enhance the probability that desired objectives will be achieved. In this role, you would consider, evaluate and support management of risks as well as ensure audit work is coordinated with enterprise view of risks. With your team of 2-3 direct reports, you would supervise, train, evaluate and motivate staff responsible for completion of financial audits and operational audits.

Key responsibilities include:
Plans, organizes, supervise daily audit activities performed by subordinates
Monitors audit activity to ensure adherence to budgets, timelines and audit objectives and goals
Reviews audit workpapers and reports
Presents and discusses audit results and recommendations with auditees
Coordinates the audit and review activities between the Companies and external auditors, legal counsel, business affiliates and regulators, to ensure work is completed efficiently and according to standards

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Computer Science is required
A minimum of six years of related work experience in public accounting or internal auditing, including a minimum of three years in a supervisory capacity is required
A professional designation of CIA, CISA or CPA is required
Internal control auditing experience (SOX or MAR) preferred
An insurance designation of FLMI or CLU is preferred

Best-fit candidates will have most or all of the following:
Advanced knowledge of financial statement audit and internal control testing (SOX or MAR)
Ability to assess a complicated process or procedure and identify control points, weaknesses, and associated risk exposure
Ability to lead and supervise multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent project management skills to meet deadlines and control budget
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Ability to train, coach and develop staff auditors
