Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, will assume the responsibility for the patient registration process for all Pine Grove programs, verification of and recording of insurance information, scanning of documents into the electronic medical record, and collection of fees for services rendered to patients in the Pine Grove service areas. Enters all patient related information in the electronic medical record. Maintain cash box. To answer incoming calls and assist with arrangement of services at Pine Grove and/or appropriate referrals to outside facilities; transfer calls to appropriate units or staff. Accept and distribute patient belongings to the appropriate unit; oversee the fire alarm control panel and respond to alarms; using the overhead paging system. Assist transportation staff in the transfer of patients as appropriate; assists with luggage/body searches when necessary. Maintains and organizes all patient documents; completes departmental reports when necessary. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with staff, outside agencies, and the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Maintains confidentiality. Performs other job duties as assigned.

Performance Expectations:

Demonstrate the ability to complete an inquiry call, answer questions about various programs, appropriately direct callers, schedule appointments for assessments, gather and document insurance and other pertinent information in the electronic medical record
Demonstrate the ability to assist the Program Coordinator, patients, family members and visitors throughout the assessment and/or admissions process
Demonstrate the willingness and ability to actively participate in helping achieve the objectives of the department; able to work independently as well as with a team
Demonstrate the ability to complete all required trainings and/or certifications and attend all required meetings
Demonstrate the ability to be flexible with changing priorities; able to tolerate high stress situations / mental demands and collaborate with Program Coordinator and others to make decisions that are ethically and legally sound

Qualifications:

Education/Skills:

High school graduation or equivalent required. Basic business skills preferred. Excellent telephone, computer, and written communication skills required. Customer service skills are required. Will be required to complete annual Handle with Care training.

Work Experience:

One year of experience in a clinic or hospital setting is preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

None required.

Mental Demands:

Must enjoy people and desire to assist doctors, patients, fellow employees, and hospital staff.

Strong communication skills are essential. Must exercise a high degree of tact, poise, and

patience in dealing with the public. Individual must have a high energy level and be capable

of handling high pressure situations both mentally and physically.
