Inspects campus construction projects for conformance with project plans and specifications, applicable codes and standards, policies and procedures; quality assurance.
Reports to the Sr. Construction Administrator- Supervisor, Design & Construction Management, responsible for general inspection, accessibility compliance, construction administration, and construction commissioning for campus projects.
Coordinates construction related activities with other campus departments as required during construction.
-Regularly climb ladders, scaffolds and multiple flights of stairs.
-Climb, crawl, bend, stoop and work in tight, confined areas.
-Lift up to 50 lbs.
Position may require occasional work with or in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. Specific hazards include but are not limited to: asbestos, PCB's, radioactive materials, industrial and laboratory chemicals, fuels, solvents, infectious materials and wastes, biological hazards and other materials labeled hazardous.
Position may require occasional work on evenings and weekends as needed to meet operational requirements and project schedules.
Employee is personally responsible for following safety procedures/guidelines.
Valid California driver's license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System.

Bachelor's degree in related area, or equivalent experience/training/certification in a related skilled trade
Must possess one or more of the following certifications:
-Certification as DSA Class 1 or 2, OR
-OSHPD Class A or B, OR
-ICC C5 Commercial Combination Inspector
Minimum 5 years' experience as a certified inspector.
Advanced experience in multi-trade construction field inspection for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.
Advanced skills in providing comprehensive plan review services for complex improvements, replacements, repairs and upgrades of campus facilities.
Advanced knowledge of California Code of Regulations Title 24, referenced standards and ADA.
Oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with a variety of constituents.
Organizational and analytical skills in problem recognition, avoidance and resolution.
Skills in time management and multi-tasking.
Skill to utilize various electronic media to document inspections, project progress, and digital photography of work in progress.
Skill in word processing, spreadsheet, calendaring, and document management database programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Projects) in a Windows environment.
Knowledge of University practices, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of the Campus Standard Design Guidelines.
