This position is responsible for providing professional accounting and analytical services for the Office of Budgets in the Controller’s Office to meet the needs identified for the university. This includes the following: (1) performing all phases of system development including, but not limited to, requirements gathering, data analysis, data trend reporting, designing delivery methods, providing technical documentation, testing data delivery, training of methods used for data retrieval, deploying data analysis in meaningful ways, and verifying all the financial data prior to giving the information to the appropriate individuals, (2) assisting in technical and non-technical aspects of data collection, (3) development and deployment of data using software , (4) reviewing expenditures to ensure conformance with budgetary provisions, compiling data and preparing reports, and (5) assisting in preparation of operational budgets for individual departments and for the overall university budget.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience: or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate or Undergraduate degree in Accounting.
  • ARGOS, SQL, Microsoft Access, or database querying experience of at least 2 years
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience
  • Government budgeting experience.
  • Higher Ed experience
Essential Functions
Description of Job Duty
Provides direct support to the Associate Controller of Reporting and/ or the Controller /Associate Vice President for the delivery and analysis of current and historical data. Provides analytical support for routine and ad hoc budget projects, advises available options and budgetary implications, assists in preparation of operational budgets for individual departments and for the overall university budget, reviews revenues and expenditures to ensure conformance with budgetary provisions, and compiles data and prepares reports.

Responsible for assisting in technical and non-technical aspects of data collection, development and deployment of data using software applications to include, but not limited to, Banner SunGard, ARGOS, Advanced Microsoft Excel, SQL, Advanced Microsoft Access, Tableau Business Intelligence Software (including publishing Tableau data sources and dashboards), State University Database System (SUDS) web system, and other pertinent software packages as they are available. Responsible for working with University IT to develop processes and access their data tables. Finally this position is responsible for reporting routine and ad-hoc data to persons as assigned by the Associate Controller of Reporting.

Serve as a project member on various committees associated with the university to enhance existing systems or develop new systems. Provide assistance as needed across campus working with others outside the Office of Budgets in the Controller’s Office and establishing clear communication lines for data definitions and data reporting requirements. Responsible for the web site development, updating, and maintaining the web site for the Office of Budget in the Controller’s Office.
