This position oversees all aspects of Lottery drawings and investigates allegations of misconduct or questionable/illegal activity involving Lottery products and systems.
In this position, you will:
Develop and update drawing policies and procedures
Recruit, train, and schedule Lottery staff to serve as drawing* officials
Be on call for all drawings (24/7) to assist with any issue that may arise
Serve as the Multi-state Lottery Association (MUSL) contact; maintain all MUSL standards and file the annual certification report
Be responsible for all Internal Control System (ICS) maintenance and issues
Investigate allegations of misconduct, illegal activity, or abuse of Lottery products and systems
Develop and monitor physical, product, and information security
Respond to reports of lost or stolen tickets
- Lottery drawings are conducted every night using specialized random number generator drawing machines. These machines are used to select the winning numbers for in-state games. Other games, such as Powerball and Mega Millions, require coordination with participating lotteries and multi-state associations. Two lottery drawing officials and one external auditor are needed to conduct each drawing. Drawing officials complete detailed checklists to ensure the integrity of the entire process. Drawings typically take between 2-4 hours to complete all required steps although occasionally lasts longer.
Four years of investigative experience involving the use of investigative techniques and procedures including following leads, interviewing witnesses, researching and inspecting records and documents, analyzing and evaluating documents, analyzing and evaluating information gathered to establish facts of evidence, and preparing detailed reports of investigative findings.
Some college-level courses in the field of criminal justice
Training in Washington State Patrol ACCESS terminal operation
Familiarity with computer networks
Skilled with word processing, spreadsheet, and scheduling software
Experience leading and assigning work to others
