The Prince George's Soil Conservation District is seeking qualified applicants to fill an Administrative Assistant III position, grade G-24.
This is senior lead/supervisory professional work, whereby the incumbent provides
administrative support to the Executive Director to facilitate programmatic operations, Human Resources (HR), and budgetary obligations in support of the agency's mission, vision and goals. The incumbent performs advanced administrative staff work in areas such as budget, finance, data processing, and personnel/administration. The incumbent may lead work in key functional areas, serve as the agency's liaison, and supervise an administrative services team comprised of lower level subordinates. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Executive Director and is evaluated based on the effectiveness of overall contribution to agency's improvement and organizational efficiency.
Examples of Work
The examples of work are as follows:
Provides professional level administrative support to the Executive Director for all District programs;
Prepares an annual programmatic and resources analysis for District programs;
Oversees the collection, compilation, verification, and interpretation of programmatic statistical data;
Represents the agency and serves as its liaison to various County/State agencies on matters related to position and duties;
Provides budgetary analysis and preparatory services to address the annual County and State budget processes;
Oversees purchasing procedures by subordinates, and serves as the agency's purchasing card Administrator;
Exercises the full range of supervisory duties and responsibilities to administrative staff and serves as their direct supervisor;
Provides administrative technical assistance to Program Managers/Heads;
Serves as Human Resources liaison with the Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM) on related issues and relevant undertakings;
Serves as the agency's budget liaison with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB);
Serves as the agency's Finance liaison with the Office of Finance;
Directs the agency's educational and outreach initiatives; and,
Performs other tasks and duties assigned, which may not be specifically listed in the position description; however, are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in Public/Business Administration, Liberal Arts, one of the Social Sciences, or a related field; plus two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in governmental administration work performing program management; responding to complex departmental inquires, and performing operational policies/procedure analysis. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered. EACH APPLICANT MUST INCLUDE INFORMATION, THAT CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.
Possess two (2) years or more of experience in the use of SAP and the associated modules for Budget/Finance and Human Resource Concerns.
At least four (4) years of experience supervising a high level administrative staff.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:Upon selection, the candidate must:
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY: Candidates will be selected from a temporary register of eligibles, which will become effective approximately four (4) weeks after the closing date. Once a selection has been made, the register will expire.
