SUMMARY

Internship opportunities will be available in the following business areas:

Marketing (New York City or Remote)- provide specific support to the Marketing and Distribution efforts for 1919. The Marketing team has begun to build its foundation to execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that includes: Marketing Communications (Content Development, Packaging, and Delivery), Brand Identity and Exposure, Digital WEB and Social Media/Events strategies. The Intern will work with the Chief Marketing Officer and Marketing team members to help execute short-term initiatives and foundational items needed for longer-term plans. The Intern must stay current on financial markets and instruments, and comply with firm policies and procedures.

Assist in the development and review of articles and marketing materials.
Collaborate to launch a 1919 Blog and identify new topics to expand 1919’s intellectual capital.
Build analytics reports to track website, social media visits and assist in efforts to increase firm exposure.
Research marketing/web tools and functions for next phase of the 1919 Investment Counsel Digital Strategy.
Participate in the adoption of new branded templates and brand guidelines across all marketing materials, client review books and investment proposals.
Partner with the team to update key firm information and create a RFP archive system.
Learn the different processes and foundational projects needed to build a robust Marketing infrastructure that can support new business opportunities and growth of AUM.
Other projects and duties as assigned.

Fixed Income/Responsible Investing (Baltimore, Cincinnati, or Remote) - will provide specific support to a joint effort sponsored by the Fixed Income and Responsible Investing teams. Both teams recognize the growing interest in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) – informed investing. Questions remain about how ESG factors influence municipal issuers and how investors in municipal finance can use ESG factors to make better investment decisions. The Intern will be directed to gather information and provide analysis on these questions. The Intern must stay current on financial markets and instruments, and comply with firm policies and procedures.

Explore the background of municipal finance: rating scales, legal structure/bond covenants, offering documents, bond proceed usage, debt service payment/amortization schedules and financial.
Learn the different factors that generate General Obligation bond ratings and how to generate key ratios and metrics that produce credit.
Review rating agency methodology for different sectors.
Learn about the growing impact that climate change (i.e. wild fires and rising sea levels) has on bond issuers and their credit ratings.
Other projects and duties as assigned.

National Growth Team (New York City or remote)- will provide specific support to members of the National Growth Team by helping create client and prospect presentations and financial plans, maintain and analyze client and prospect data, and develop our team’s strategy for outreach and inbound leads. The Intern must stay current on financial markets and instruments, and comply with firm policies and procedures.

Support the creation of client and prospect presentations by analyzing financial account statements and other relevant financial information to make appropriate recommendations for transitioning and managing new client assets.
Design engaging client and prospect presentations using MS.
Support the creation of client and prospect financial plans, including entering and analyzing personal and financial data in MoneyGuide Pro and running future scenarios for discussion.
Conduct client research to inform business strategy.
Report on team activity and results, primarily using Salesforce.
Work with National Growth Team members to develop outreach strategy, as well as consider ways to attract qualified inbound leads.
Other projects and duties as assigned.

New Business Development (Birmingham or Remote)- will provide specific project support to the New Business Development Team by assisting with strategy and implementation for targeted markets/prospects. The Intern must stay current on financial markets and instruments, and comply with firm policies and procedures.

Research local and regional ERISA plans, Foundations and Endowments.
Analyze publicly available information to determine where 1919 may be able to add value.
Develop strategies for targeting sectors based on observed trends.
Prepare materials to pitch prospects.
Coordinate with partners (e.g., Fidelity, Lloyd Wilson & Associates), as needed.
Participate in prospect meetings, tracking progress in Turbine.
Other projects and duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Learn various job functions within the Financial Services industry.
Apply academic knowledge and learn new skills by contributing to various projects.
Research various legal, regulatory and other topics within functional area and industry.
Attend training and development presentations to enhance professional competencies.
Assist in preparation of reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

Pursing an undergraduate degree, preferably in a related field, with at least one year of college completed. Junior or Senior level preferred.
Demonstrated track record of achievement in academics and participation in extracurricular activities.
Possesses strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
