Senior Principal UI/UX Engineer – R&D
Baxter International – Renal Digital Solutions

Note: Relocation Support to the Chicago area may be Available
The budgeted midpoint of the salary range for this position is $140,000.00; in addition, there is an annual bonus opportunity
Baxter’s Renal Digital Solutions R&D is engaged in the development/support of products and services, Integrating patients and their clinicians.
This is an exciting opportunity to jump in as a team member responsible for the design, definition and development of user interfaces and user experience supporting patients and clinicians managing chronic kidney disease.
This collaborative role as a User experience engineer gives you the direct opportunity to define solutions to new products and services to patients and continue Baxter’s mission to save and sustain lives.
UX/UI Team Lead for projects in development cycle, able to lead a sub-project team
Develop/design user interfaces and workflows for new/current kidney care products
Optimize existing user interface designs
Plan/execute programs related to the user interfaces/design strategy within Renal Care and across Baxter
Collaborate with internal cross functional teams, end users, and third-party contacts to design, develop, document and maintain deliverables for various projects
Work with Commercial leadership, product owners, architects, and developers to transform market needs into actionable concepts/workflow designs taking into consideration customer experience, human factors, and patient safety.
Generally responsible for collecting, researching, investigating, and evaluating user requirements
Understanding of HFE principles in ergonomics, human computer / machine interface, and data collection / analysis methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to provide technical/functional leadership for human factors engineering projects
Solid understanding of user experience solicitation process and needs generation
Knowledge of Usability Factors in Human Computer Interaction
Passionate about designing solutions to solve patient and clinician needs
Technical skills such as UX research, wireframing and prototyping, interaction design, visual communication, and information architecture
Demonstrated Experience within Healthcare Domain and workflow design principles where patient safety and product quality are paramount
Responsible for monitoring, identifying issues / opportunities for improvement and driving the implementation of changes in the product life cycle management processes within projects and across the organization
Interact with other functions and management to ensure effective communications across teams and stakeholders
Leads team in defining program strategies, developing goals, and ensures program scope is defined
Anticipates potential conflict situations and helps identify proactive solutions and manages conflict situations to result in win-win outcomes
Ensures identification and communication of project risks, development of risk plan and response strategies
Education and Experience
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 10-12 years of related experience
10+ Years total experience in User interface design, user experience design
Understanding of Quality System Regulations (QSR). Understanding of design requirements for development, validation, and verification of medical products.
Preferred: experience with operating in a regulated environment (e.g., FDA) with comprehension of implications for medical device and healthcare applications
