- Clinical Nurse Specialist
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's mission is focused on integrating quality patient care, education, and research. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) functions as a member of a team of care providers cultivating collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The CNS integrates care across the emergent medical field and exhibits advanced knowledge. As an integral member of the transdisciplinary team the CNS's circle of influence includes patient, nurse, and system. The primary goal in these interrelated spheres is to achieve continuous improvement of patient outcomes through quality nursing care. The CNS is an advanced practice nurse who is an expert in evidence-based nursing practice in the field of emergency medicine. The CNS integrates research and knowledge of disease and current treatments into the assessment, diagnosis, and health care goals for patients and populations. The CNS provides leadership in the implementation of nursing practice standards.
Education and experience
For Hire: Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing with current licensure as a RN in the State of Ohio. Certification as CNS preferred; must hold a valid certificate of authority as a CNS. Masters Degree in nursing required, clinical specialty major preferred. Significant clinical nursing experience relevant to assigned units/department specialty as defined in the scope of service. Previous CNS experience preferred.
