YBike Coordinator is responsible for managing the operational and strategic vision of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County’s YBike Program. The YBike Coordinator oversees a diverse and growing school and community based bicycle and pedestrian safety education that serves thousands of youth and families, yearly, through a variety of innovative programs, including: Safe Routes to Schools, pedestrian and bicycle safety programs at multiple schools, after school/camp bicycle safety programs, community and YMCA bicycle trainings, Bicycle Rodeos and outreach efforts, family and youth bicycling-related classes at the Y and other programs. All YBike programs must be administered in a manner consistent with the mission, goals and policies of the Y.
Essential Functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintain and deliver YBike bicycle instruction and safety education programs.
Maintain and deliver YBike community programs and activities.
Work with schools and community organizations to improve safe bicycle riding techniques, bicycle/pedestrian routes and to increase bicycling to school.
Assists with managing funder requirements and benchmarks of funder contracts and grants.
Compiles YBike program statistics, maintain database, and provide progress reports.
Creates and schedules YBike classes and registrations.
Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
Participates in fund raising activities and special events.
Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
Maintains YBike equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required.
Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.
All other duties as assigned by Management
Bachelor's or Associates Degree in education, public health, recreation, human services or related field is preferred.
Preferred experience teaching bicycle and/or pedestrian safety curriculum, or presenting on benefits of walking, biking or increased physical activity.
Experience leading event coordination.
Experience working with students, families, and staff from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Computer skills required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with budget for each program supervised.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
Certificates, licenses and related trainings must be completed within first year of employment.
CPR and First Aid certifications within first 60 days.
Ability and license to drive and pull a trailer required.
Have the physical, visual and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Thorough understanding of the needs and concerns of cyclists.
Considerable knowledge, understanding and use of bicycle and pedestrian transportation
Note: Employees in this position may be encouraged, if otherwise qualified, to become authorized van (includes mini-bus) drivers. Pre-requisites for becoming an authorized bus/truck driver include: minimum age of 21, valid driver's license, at least three years of driving experience, and a driving record which meets or exceeds YMCA standards. Principal activities for authorized bus/truck drivers include:
driving the YMCA bus/truck safely, when required, and including complying with all driver regulations
towing Bike trailer safely, when required, and including complying with all driver regulations.
performing pre-trip inspections
ensuring vehicle is clean
reporting vehicle conditions in need of attention or correction
