The Business Analytics Advisor position is an opportunity for an analytics professional to provide leadership on analytics projects and initiatives. This role will work with an innovative team on setting and executing the vision for how advanced embedded analytics can lead Cigna to achieving our growth goals.
Reporting to the Business Analytics Senior Manager, this role will work collaboratively with Global Data & Analytics, Leadership, the Enhance Quality of Care experience group and business SMEs to support new and existing analytics in support of the visions and strategies established by the Business Analytics Senior Director. The role will provide partnership in analytics, develop analytics solutions, and leverage technologic capabilities in support of operational effectiveness, application use standardization, and embedding analytics driven processes.
The Business Analytics Advisor is responsible for the execution of work in support of Intake, Standard Operating Procedures governance, and development and enhancement of communications, reports, and tools to support and drive system use standardization for accurate reporting. Requires the ability to manage medium to large complexity projects or components of a larger project impacting multiple business units.
Understand how our deliverables, processes and analytics affect the broader business and bridge gap between team deliverables and stakeholders thru creation and delivery of documentation that is understood and easily consumed by others (SOPs, Blueworks, training materials, etc).
Work productively in a fast-paced environment that requires constant development of data-related technical skill sets across a distributed data architecture (may include SQL Server, Excel, Access and other relevant software applications such as SAS and SQL).
Ensure quality and integrity of data collected, analyses performed, and reports generated.
Communicate statuses, good and bad, to partners to keep them informed and engaged in the project, minimizing surprises.
Work effectively and efficiently on multiple tasks and deadlines, while producing high quality results.
Drive consistency, ensure adoption and use of common dashboards and metrics.
Create data and reporting processes, monitoring and governance across automated, ad-hoc, and dashboard deliverables.
Lead and develop new and improved reporting and metrics to provide insights into a team’s operational effectiveness.
Versatile contributor who can work effectively when independent, within a team, or among matrix partners with minimal guidance while managing multiple tasks and meeting aggressive deadlines.
Focus on providing thought leadership within Business Analytics but works on broader projects, which require understanding of wider business.
Maintain analytics skillset through understanding new technologies, modeling techniques, and the ability to execute and apply to our work.
Analyze results and present analytics in a consumable method using overview, major takeaways, major questions, and next steps.
Bachelor’s degree required in preferred fields of Finance, Economics, or equivalent work experience
Minimum 3 years’ industry (healthcare) experience solving business problems through the application of analytic approaches
Proven experience in interpreting and translating business needs into technical requirements.
Use relevant technology/software to wrangle data, perform analytics, and visualize for consumption
Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office tools and skills in data modeling and use of database and reporting tools (SAS/SQL/Tableau) strongly preferred.
Experience working in healthcare highly preferred
Demonstrated experience in challenging problems and driving outstanding results
Experience blending creativity, relentless problem-solving, and business acumen
Strong verbal/written communication skills to work with various matrix partners, including but not limited to actuarial, medical economics, business, marketing, and IT.
