Who We Need:
This role supports Cardinal Financial Company with creative needs relating to digital and physical works inspired by the company’s brand and style standards. The Visual Designer is responsible for producing creative content for various platforms including but not limited to landing page and user interface design, video editing and animation, social media visual strategy, email and marketing campaigns, trade show booth design, presentation layout, recruiting and onboarding documents, ebooks, and interactive learning tools. A great fit for this role is someone with a deep understanding of the formal elements of design, including typography, layout, balance, and proportion, but also skilled in multiple disciplines across design.
This position reports to the Art Director within the Brand & Customer Experience team. As part of the Brand & CX team, your primary mission will be to understand business goals and product requirements to define and deliver compelling, user-focused design for review by the Art Director and Compliance Team. This role will also work closely alongside the team’s Designers, Developers, Copywriters, and alike, to assist with the creation of web application screens, component design, and collaborate on company initiatives that require branded touchpoints.

What You Will Do:
Receives direction from the Art Director, even if it varies from the feedback provided by cross-functional teammates, and actively participate in critiques for the betterment of the work.
Designs production-ready assets and materials, icons, digital ads, landing pages, and event graphics, at times in the form of email newsletters, news post styling and design support for our intranet, The Hub, to maintain brand consistency for internal communications.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, all while executing in the direction and requirements of project needs without compromising quality or deadlines.
Translate complex technology concepts and text-heavy material into polished visual communications in diverse mediums including print, or digital design.
Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment with senior team members and Compliance; and confident in your ability to translate meeting notes into actionable design steps.
Understands the Cardinal Financial Company’s Brand Identity in order to help shape the look and feel of subsequent brand projects.
Thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while juggling multiple tasks, projects, and initiatives simultaneously—yes, we move fast.
Thinks strategically as well as aesthetically; ability to efficiently and effectively provide graphic design and interface design support.
Ability to move a project along by following the project management process without relying on a project manager to do so for you.
Practices clean and organized file and asset management on the shared Drive as well as the ability to work within Asana, our project management tool. Training will be provided.
Ability to shift between differing brand identities and audiences depending on the project or material needed.
Design user-experiences from low-fidelity sketches to hi-fidelity pixel perfect mockups for our Sr. UI/UX Designer as needed because we support each other—it’s what we do.
A pro in Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with ever-changing design applications.
Inspires a positive creative culture that elevates the standards and quality of all work achieved by the team.
Works with outside agencies, art services, printers, and similar vendors if/when applicable.
What You Need:
5+ years in digital product design with a good understanding of interface design systems for digital products, typography, print media and visual communication.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in fine arts, graphic design, interactive media design or visual arts.
Online design portfolio required. Work including web apps, websites, visual design, ebooks, presentation design, and/or other interactive design projects are strongly desired.
Animation, motion graphics, dynamic interaction, video editing, and audio editing is preferred.
Must be advanced in Google Apps (i.e., Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.).
Must be advanced in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Sketch, Premiere, After Effects, etc.)
HTML/CSS, Tailwind, Bootstrap, or other CSS front-end frameworks knowledge is a plus.
Other key application knowledge including: Keynote, Acrobat, MailChimp,
Ability to work and communicate with the team in an online collaboration platform.
Digital and physical brand-building experience a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills is a must.
This position will work remotely.
