Director, Internal and Executive Communications (Director Corporate Communications)

Executes internal/external strategic communication activities focused on positioning the company's imaging and messaging consistently and effectively. Ensures employees understand Avnet's strategy, the nature and breadth of corporate initiatives and how their role contributes to driving results. Communicates the company?s competitive advantage to the public, business community and industry constituencies using a wide range of communication media to create brand awareness, reinforce key messaging, and enhance the company image. Such activities may include any of the following as well as other duties as assigned:

Principal Responsibilities:
Collaborates with executive and business leadership team to create opportunities for branding Avnet through public speaking engagements, written publications, social media and other appropriate forums; provides communications support including power point presentations, emails, scripts, speeches, white papers, press releases, etc.
Solicits and reviews content submitted for use on all approved social media outlets to ensure all information is accurate and consistent with the company and business unit branding and marketing strategies.
Manages corporate inter- and intranet websites including Avnet's global web strategy, initial launch of new sites, ensuring a consistent look and feel among all sites globally, and content of sites is relevant, continually refreshed and delivers an optimum user experience.
Coordinates media relations and prepares external communications.
Solicits, reviews submitted content and develops original content for company's internal and external sites.
Communicates and may coordinate various internally focused activities such as employee engagement activities, community involvement opportunities, and employee recognition programs/events.
Prepares communications material for internal and external presentations on programs, services, business plans and management communications.
Determines and uses the most effective communication media to convey corporate messaging and engage target audience.
Coordinates with vendors to produce promotional materials, communications collateral, websites and other communications materials.
Manages agency relationships with public relations, multimedia and other consulting services providers.

Job Level Specifications:
Provides leadership and direction through managers and senior managers. Accountable for the performance and results of a major function that has cross-organizational impact and is comprised of multiple departments or units.
Establishes policies appropriate for the function. Interprets and recommends modifications to company-wide policies and practices. Adapts and executes functional business plans and contributes to the development of functional strategies. Controls significant resources within the function.
Objectives are defined in collaborating with other senior management and results assessed from a long-term perspective. Decisions are guided by functional strategy and priorities.
Interacts with senior management and others concerning matters of significance to the company. Routinely conducts briefings for senior and top management and for key external representatives. Attempts to influence senior leaders or customers/clients.
Decisions have serious impact on the overall success or failure of a function. Erroneous decisions or recommendations result in critical delays or modifications to company objectives and cause long-term harm to business operations.

Work Experience:
12+ years including 7+ years of management experience.

Education and Certification(s):
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience
