THE DISTRIBUTED GENERATION TEAM
Our Energy Group at CEI builds projects from the field to the grid. Whether it’s a solar, battery storage, substation, EV charging, microgrid, or converter station project, our skilled project managers, engineers, and field employees deliver when it matters most. We are offering this exciting opportunity to join the Distributed Generation Team within our Energy Group working on complex construction projects, leveraging your Project Management experience.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Project Manager role is critical to the success of projects at CEI. Within the Distributed Generation Division, Project Managers will function as General Contractor and must be knowledgeable of all aspects of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project including Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines. Additionally, successful candidates will have a solid understanding of all aspects of EH&S. As a Project Manager, this person will be responsible for client satisfaction, financial success, and the professional training, growth, and development of their team members. Project Managers develop, implement, and lead complex commercial strategies with respect to client and subcontractor management with an emphasis on repeat business as well as profitability. Project Managers are expected to manage a variety of complex issues including, but not limited to: schedule delays, subcontractor claims, Owner claims and AHJ, utility, ISO coordination. Our ideal candidate is capable of effectively leading and communicating with a diverse team of engineers, construction, legal and financial professionals, as well as creating comprehensive reports for leadership team review.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, partners, and local labor

Understand, comply and enforce CEI standards and procedures

Responsible for project Profit and Loss, and understanding complex financial transactions

Ensure that project leadership is informed of any project risks, particularly with respect to impacts to project finances, schedule, or any impact to an outside party (client, AHJ, etc)

Prioritize CEI safety culture including actions that impact the project safety record

Responsible for ensuring project quality and compliance with engineered drawings, maintaining the project schedule, as well as construction permitting / permit compliance

Train, develop and lead a diverse team to achieve a successful project outcome

Responsible for communicating, tracking, and maintaining project production goals, including developing recovery strategies. Work closely and collaboratively with field leadership to achieve project goals

Responsible for ensuring commercial and technical contract compliance, and that construction complies with all applicable local, state, and federal codes

Maintain accurate project records including financials, as-builts, etc.

Develop and implement complex commercial negotiation strategies
ABOUT YOU
You have experience as General Contractor on large projects (>$30M) and a strong understanding of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical concepts and drawings. You possess dynamic leadership and management skills to influence and drive positive outcomes. You have thorough knowledge of the estimating, project cost accounting, scheduling, procurement, productivity tracking, and reporting methods necessary to profitably complete electrical construction projects. You have experience with union workforces, labor rate calculations, and collective bargaining agreements. In addition to your technical knowledge, you have a history of successfully leading teams and are passionate about developing and growing employees to their full potential. You have the ability to proactively identify and implement cost-saving strategies to profitably support projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or similar preferred.
Licensure/Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Three (3) years in renewable energy, BESS preferred.
Driving Record: Valid state-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
