Job Overview

Doggie Dojo NYC is a mobile dog training school with clients all over Brooklyn. We are growing rapidly into the 5 boroughs, and are seeking independent and entrepreneurial-minded individuals who value education, hard work, and community. Doggie Dojo NYC is looking for individuals who have at least 1 year of experience working with dogs and are interested in taking their dog training career one step further through hands-on training and mentorship.

Our mission is to provide urban families the tools and knowledge to create harmonious relationships, both inside and outside of the home, with their canine companions. We believe that training should be fun, informative, and rewarding for all parties, including our employees. This opportunity has a starting rate of $17/hour and can reach up to $50/hour.

Responsibilities for Assistant Dog Trainer

  • Learn training principles and methodology
  • Create a training plan for the dog
  • Teach commands to the dog and owner
  • Be patient with a stubborn dog
  • Teach owners about dog behavior
  • Understand an owner's needs
  • Work with the owner to teach them about their dog
  • Teach owners how to reinforce good behavior
  • Listen to dog owner concerns
  • Walk dog without owner
  • Schedule appointments
  • Travel to appointments

Qualifications for Dog Trainer

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Knowledge of dog commands
  • Knowledge of different dog breeds
  • History of dog ownership
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients
  • Ability to create a plan of action for owners
  • Ability to work well with dogs
  • Ability to identify problems
  • Must be able to work outside
  • Must be comfortable with dogs of all sizes

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $17.00 to $50.00 /hour
