Provides leadership in the operations of the contract execution and management process for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and its corporate affiliates (collectively, the “Medical Center”). Provides oversight in the management of a uniform system of policies and procedures for organization-wide contract review, negotiation, management and retention. Provides leadership and participates in departmental and organizational policy development and training, as well as other organizational initiatives. Recommends and supports the development of ongoing process improvements within the department and organization. Oversees and participates in the drafting, review and negotiation of all types and complexity, to identify and mitigate contractual issues for the procurement of goods and services for Medical Center. Manages the execution of contracts of varying complexity in an extremely fast paced environment, where accuracy and attention to detail is critical. This position works closely with, and effective interacts with, all members of the Legal Services team as well all levels of leadership within the organization.
Provides leadership and supervision of the contract management process within Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center. Shares information on changes in the process with operational owners and works collaboratively with colleagues in all areas of the Medical Center to ensure smooth execution and monitoring of contract changes.
Oversees the comprehensive contract management system including a contract repository, contract database, contract templates, and contract review and analysis process for all Medical Center contracts. Identifies and implements potential improvements to processes and existing policies.
Provides leadership, instruction and oversight of departmental staff to ensure consistent outcomes and guidance as necessary to enable staff development.
Negotiates contracts of all types and complexity, ensuring smooth transition of information from end user to and from vendor while ensuring Medical Center values are maintained.
Analyzes all requirements and provisions in contracts, including terms and conditions, to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations and Medical Center policies and procedures.
Ensures that business objectives are captured by the contract review and negotiation.
Leads complex contract negotiations and manages all changes in and addendums to existing contracts.
Responsible for the integrity and functionality of the contract repository system, and oversees reporting for organizational and external regulatory requirements including: (a) Corporate Compliance auditing and monitoring, (b) timely access to current and complete information for all Business Associate Agreements, (c) assessing whether business practices are consistent with contract terms, and (d) other contracting needs.
Oversees and develops the library of contract templates for frequently used documents, collaborating with the Legal Services Department to ensure standardized language complies with current legal and regulatory requirements and Medical Center policies and guidelines. Working with other members of the Legal Services Department, supplement and augment contract templates for the Medical Center.
Works collaboratively with operational owners and leadership of all levels, to provide timely and relevant information to aide in the negotiation process of legal terms and the regular review of expiring contracts to promote standardization and fiscal stewardship.
Demonstrates effective communications with Medical Center management, staff, vendors, customers and other institutions.
Oversee and lead workflow changes, enhancements, upgrades, and/or changes as needed to improve the efficiency of the department and to adapt to changing workforce needs.

Educates leadership as needed, on the responsibility of business owners in the contract review, execution, and maintenance life cycle.
The authority to hire, separate, promote, demote, write and administer performance evaluations for direct report(s).

Bachelor's Degree required, Master’s Degree and/or paralegal certification preferred.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience directly related to the position, with experience negotiating healthcare related contract, and providing departmental oversight.
Competent in interpersonal and interdisciplinary communication, group process facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution.
Enhanced ability for independent decision making, problem solving and self-directed work flow. Must be able to prioritize, organize and assess work in order to meet aggressive deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to read and interpret complex contractual agreements in an extremely fast paced environment, including managing high volumes of projects and negotiations simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to effectively utilize computer word processing and spreadsheet software.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity in all aspects of interactions with internal and external business parties.
Ability to organize information and resources, effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks, and the ability to get things performed through, with and by people.
