Contract Research Associate – Molecular Biology / Biomarker Development (06 Month Contract)

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Associate to support H3 Biomedicine’s efforts to discover unique compounds for the treatment of targeted cancer patient populations. In this position within the Biomarker and Companion Diagnosis Group, the candidate will play an important role in developing and implementing molecular biomarker assays, work with clinical samples and interface with CROs. Excellent communication and organization skills are also required. In the innovative and fast-paced environment at H3, this position offers the opportunity to acquire new skills and gain broad exposure to cancer biomarker discovery, clinical trials and clinical sample processing and management.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing a variety of molecular and genomic based assays
  • Routine testing of clinical samples utilizing molecular technologies such as NGS, Nanostring and ddPCR for both early phase clinical trials and pre-clinical samples.
  • Ability to perform nucleic acid extractions from FFPE blocks and fresh frozen tissues
  • Cross platform validation studies
  • Comfortable with analyzing biomarker data and presenting to project teams
  • Maintenance of laboratory records, protocols, summaries, and technical reports
  • Contribution to laboratory organization and maintenance
  • 80% lab work


  • BS/MS with 3+ years of industrial/academic laboratory experience or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Genomics, biology or a life science discipline
  • Strong background in molecular biology is required. Experience in drug discovery, especially oncology is desirable
  • Prior laboratory experience with various Molecular and Genomic based assay technologies such as NGS (required), Nanosting, RT-PCR/ddPCR
  • Experience doing computational analysis with Spotfire or Prism is a preferred.
  • Highly analytical mind, attention to detail, and organization skills are critical
  • Collaborative and proactive attitude with excellent written and oral communication skills
