Animal Kingdom is seeking a freelance personal/office assistant who desires a flexible schedule and long-term growth opportunities.

Our personal/office assistant will be tasked with daily organization, research and financial management projects, and work directly with the owner of a family-owned pet retail and services company. This position is the glue that binds the many facets of our company, and requires excellent communication skills and lots of energy. Candidate should be extremely organized, detail-oriented, self-driven and creative. During a typical day, you may assist with organizing and filing, banking, general correspondence, and promoting communication between the day care, grooming and retail departments, and customers (must love all animals). The most successful candidate will be highly adaptable and a creative problem solver.

General Responsibilities:

Customer service, including telephone, email and messaging;

Assist owner with managing short and long-term projects;

Maintain organizational system (filing hard and electronic copies of documents);

Maintain multiple calendars, including events, grooming and pet care schedules;

Maintain social media - Assist with advertising campaigns;

Run errands, including but not limited to bank deposits and supplies runs;

Liaison between owner and accounting professionals;

Keep office and workspace tidy;

Coordinating/supporting other team members;

Fill in for team members;

Some pet handling;

Requirements:

Must love all animals!

Must possess a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and complete a Form I-9;

Available 20-30 hours per week for onsite work. Opportunity to work remotely can be discussed after a proven track record of attendance and meeting deadlines/goals is established;

Ability to commute to Santa Monica and around the city for errands;

Computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint;

The following skills are not required, however prior experience is a plus:

Prior experience in pet industry;

Knowledge of pet care, diet and nutrition;

Quickbooks, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop

On-the-job training will be provided.

*As a small business, we all wear multiple hats and are not afraid to get a little dirty (or hairy) when needed, as expected when working closely with animals

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $12.00 /hour
